Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige has had some big ideas for the future of MCU since the very beginning. This is evidenced by the signing of Stars that would play the Avengers and later additions to the universe, to a multi-picture deal. These deals were usually for six or nine films, and some were changed and re-negotiated with time, meaning none of the actors were leaving. It’s hard to imagine MCU without Chris Evans and Robert Downey Jr but as the third phase of Marvel comes to an end with Avengers: Endgame, some of these stars will have to rest their superhero duties.

A few contracts of actors are coming to an end. Many of these actors signed on with the company when it was in its infant stage and dedicated more than 10 years to the franchise. Today we will discuss 3 actors that could be leaving MCU in 2019, 3 that will stay back and 1 who’s probably gone.

Leaving: Robert Downey Jr.

The fans weren’t happy at the decision of casting Robert Downey Jr as Iron Man initially. All the questions were put to a stop by Robert as he masterfully did justice to the role and well let’s face it, without him there is no Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Robert Downey would also be taking off his suit after Avengers: Endgame. Downey started his journey with Iron Man (2008) which marked the beginning of MCU. This makes him the founder of the MCU who has been the face of the company ever since. He has appeared in a total of nine films. Well, MCU wouldn’t have been the same, if it wasn’t him!

Staying: Chris Pratt

With Guardians of The Galaxy, Chris Pratt has become a known Marvel actor. He captivated the audience with his portrayal of Star-Lord and this year’s Infinity War marked his third appearance with the studio. Reportedly his last film with MCU would be Guardians of The Galaxy Vol. 4, which will begin its production phase in 2019, for 2020 release

Nevertheless, the actor might renegotiate his contract with Marvel, as he had mentioned in an interview and stay back for more films.

Leaving: Jeremy Renner

Debuting as Hawkeye in Avengers (2012), Renner also appeared very briefly in Thor (2011) before that. He went on to star in Age of Ultron and Civil War as a part of team Cap. He didn’t appear in Infinity War so Avengers 4 will mark his fifth and final appearance for the franchise.

He signed a five-film deal with Marvel which will end in 2019 although there’s no virtual information of his contract online. It’s likely that he will leave MCU post-Avengers: Endgame.

Staying: Josh Brolin

He began his journey in Marvel with Guardians of The Galaxy in a brief role. We saw him in full splendour, seated on a huge throne but his brief presence on screen was majorly appreciated. However, he played the central role in Infinity War where he’s in the lead as Thanos, who is the main protagonist and antagonist of the film.

We don’t know much about his contract except the fact that he signed a multi-picture deal with Marvel Studios.

Leaving: Chris Evans

Chris Evans started his journey in MCU back in 2011 with Captain America (The First Avenger). Though the film wasn’t a huge success worldwide it established Evans as Captain America. Evans was equally good as Human Torch in the Fantastic Four but he will be remembered more as Steve Rogers/Captain America.

The deal ends with the running Avengers: Endgame which will release next year which has left the fans crazy demanding for more. Even The Russos have teased that the actor may not be done with his role yet. So, you never know!

Staying: Chris Hemsworth

Thor was among the founding members of the MCU along with Captain America and Iron Man. Thor released in 2011 and left the audience mesmerised with Chris Hemsworth as Thor. He was even termed to be born to play the role and no one else could’ve done it better.

In an interview with CBS, Chris Evans said that even Hemsworth’s contract will come to an end after Avengers: Endgame, but after the success of Thor: Ragnarok, the actor has teased to keep playing the iconic role for a little longer.

Gone: Kurt Russell

Kurt Russell is a fan-favourite actor among so many different fandoms. He’s known in the horror community for his work alongside Jon Carpenter and has also appeared in films like Captain Ron.

His role as Ego in Guardians of the Galaxy was a one-off role and well, he did perish at the end of it. It’s unlikely that we will ever get to see him again but when it’s about MCU, who knows?
