The Avengers are about to have a major character shuffling. Several iconic members are passing the torch down to a new generation of heroes. The legacy heroes will most likely never be seen again.
Black Widow – Natasha Romanoff To Yelena Belova
Scarlett Johansson did a commendable job playing the only female founding Avengers member. She held her own fort fighting alongside literal Gods and monsters. But like all good things, Johansson’s tenure as the champion of the Red Room too came to pass. her character died on Vormir, letting Hawkeye get his hands on the Soul Stone. In the Black Widow prequel movie. Yelena Belova – Scarlett’s sister, took over the mantle. She will be an interesting new addition to the MCU roster. Scarlett Johansson will probably never be seen again as Natasha after that ugly lawsuit fiasco.
Captain America – Steve Rogers To Sam Wilson
Steve Rogers was the first Avenger. After being injected with the Super Soldier Serum, he fought Hydra and then was frozen in the arctic. he woke up decades later and fought many other threats, becoming the leader of the Avengers. Steve Rogers, at the end of Infinity War, travels back in time to return the Infinity Stones. He decides to stay in the past, living a happy life with Peggy Carter. Rogers’ character has officially retired from the MCU and Sam Wilson aka the Falcon is now the new Captain America – an intriguing new direction for the mantle.
Thor – Thor Odinson To Jane Foster
After losing literally every person he ever loved, Thor is going on a soul searching mission. Many claim that Thor 4 titled ‘Thor: Love & Thunder’ will be Hemsworth’s final foray as the Odinson. With Iron Man and Steve Rogers having gone their separate ways, it is only a matter of time before Hemsworth does the same too. His status is uncertain for now but we would like to Hemsworth’s Thor character to be given a proper Viking farewell. Jane Foster Thor should carry the torch forward. That is provided Natalie Portman’s character does not end up dying in Love & Thunder.
Iron Man – Tony Stark To Peter Parker
Endgame gave us the inevitable death of Tony Stark, the man who started it all. RDJ breathed new life into a comic book publication that was about to go down under. Tony Star’s tenure as Iron man will forever be etched into our hearts and souls. But it was his time to go. Fortunately, Tony Stark found a protégé in the form of Spider-Man. Peter Parker is just as witty and spontaneous as Iron-Man. And Tom Holland has what it takes to become a part of a new MCU Trinity. Tony left Peter with access to all his technology in his will and this means Spider-Man will more or less take Tony’s stead in future MCU Phases.
Hawkeye – Clint Barton To Kate Bishop
He was constantly overshadowed by his other superpowered colleagues. But he is still a founding Avengers member and a vital member of the team. Jeremy Renner has pushed Hawkeye to near legendary status. But his character has run its course. Renner is getting older and his character, which is requires him to perform a myriad of stunts and action sequences, is getting to energy-intensive for him. Hailee Steinfeld will portray the role of Kate Bishop and the next Hawkeye of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Renner will most probably retire after the MCU Disney+ Hawkeye series.
