Some movies thrive hard to go back in time. However, not everyone who was involved in the making can do so. Perhaps that is why these origins should have been better unexplored by the movie prequels. While films like The Godfather II were something really special that explored the beginning of Don Vito Corleone’s empire in New York, films like The Huntman: Winter’s War shouldn’t have existed at all. With that being said, these are the 5 awful movie prequels that should have also not existed –

The Star Wars Prequel Trilogy

The Star Wars (1999-2005)

This is perhaps the most disastrous fruit on the list. While fans were quite excited to welcome the new trilogy, the 16 years of waiting brought nothing but a disappointment to the table. There have been quite some reasons why George Lucas’ attempt went wrong. However, it was the plot’s overarching narrative that failed to pay a tribute to Darth Vader’s origin story.

In addition, the makers crafted a movie that was way more kid-friendly. This is exactly what went wrong with Phantom Menace as well. Now between such movies and The Force Awakens, it became quite clear that these prequels were not meant to deliver something spectacular or magical at all.

Oz The Great And Powerful

Right when it felt like that Sam Raimi has packed his bags from street cred films after the immense failure of Spider-Man 3, he reappeared with a curveball. However, it was no less than bizarre. In fact, after Oz the Great and Powerful, Sam Raimi had to restart everything once again. It wasn’t the cast that went wrong with the film, but it was the overlong screenplay that didn’t cater any suspense to the audience.

Final Destination 5

Most Final Destination fans would agree on this that things started getting wrong after Final Destination 3. However, the franchise still managed to offer whatever it could and that is how Final Destination 5 showed up. While the makers believed that a prequel might help the franchise to get up a bit, it went the opposite. After all, everybody knew that what is about to happen – some random people are going to line up for the unseen death. In fact, when The Final Destination 5 got released and was shown in 3D, the film actually suffered some uninspired demises. That’s exactly what we call the death of dark humor and creativity.

300: Rise Of An Empire

Is there anything worse in watching a Zack Snyder movie? Oh yes, watching a dumber, bigger, and stupid Zack Snyder film. Well, 300: Rise of an Empire was actually a bit more than what has been described above. While Snyder has been the only writer for the film, it was Noam Murro who catalyzed Snyder’s cinematic version on screen. Everything could have been great if it didn’t include a carbon-copy-like precision. Even after getting a spectacular performance by Eva Green, the prequel remained in-glorified; more like a comically hilarious gore.

Annabelle

It looks like 2014 wasn’t a year for prequel films at all. But anyways, it was James Wan who delivered the spectacular horror film of all time, The Conjuring, in 2013. The film got R-rated and was a massive success at the box office. As a result, a prequel was quite obvious and thus, it happened.

With that being said, Annabelle was really strange and was entirely based on a creepy doll. Above all of the things that have gone worse – the doll made The Conjuring less enjoyable after Annabelle’s release. Thankfully The Conjuring 2 and The Conjuring 3 handled it all and managed to help the franchise become a significant success again. But the 2014 released prequel was nothing but a nightmare.
