It’s challenging to create a captivating plot, cast the appropriate individuals, and put it all together in a film that works. The reason outstanding films stand out is that they are surrounded by duds. But it’s unusual for a film—even a lousy one—to have nothing to offer. Movies that got bad critical reviews and were rejected by viewers, such as Batman v Superman and the Star Wars prequels, usually include at least one spectacular sequence. In some circumstances, just seeing that scenario is worth the price of admission. So we at Animated Times decided to offer viewers 6 “bad” movies with great scenes. Sounds intriguing, right? If so, let’s go over the list and figure out what these fantastic scenes were.

6. Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice – The Opening Scene:

Overall, Zack Snyder’s Batman v Superman suffers from a bloated length, pointless universe-building, and a jar of urine in the Supreme Court. It earned nearly uniformly unfavorable reviews, with a 29 percent Rotten Tomatoes rating, but its opening sequence introducing Ben Affleck’s Bruce Wayne is stunning. It provides a first-person account of the Man of Steel’s contentious last combat and accurately represents Bruce. While horrified residents leave the mayhem, Bruce rushes in to assist anybody he can. This moment effectively develops Bruce’s animus towards Superman (and he has a valid point).

5. Knowing – The Plane Crash:

The sci-fi thriller “Knowing” was not well-received by reviewers, with an appalling 34% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. It doesn’t really stand up as a whole, based on a ridiculous notion. It does, however, have an isolated set-piece that works beautifully. When an aircraft crashes over a highway, Nicolas Cage discovers the encrypted code. He discovers a sequence of foreshadowing’s of future events. A handheld camera follows Cage into the blazing debris of the collision in this violent scenario.

4. Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace – Duel Of The Fates:

The Phantom Menace, George Lucas’s first Star Wars prequel, was immensely contentious, as seen by its low-middle 52 percent Rotten Tomatoes score. After getting beyond Jar Jar Binks’ shenanigans, The Phantom Menace concludes with one of the saga’s most breathtaking lightsaber battles between Obi-Wan, Qui-Gon, and Darth Maul. There’s a case to be made that The Phantom Menace features two fantastic sequences. An exciting and aesthetically breathtaking set-piece is the podracing sequence, in which Anakin and his closest opponents race 700km/h pods across a treacherous circuit on Tatooine.

3. X-Men Origins: Wolverine – The Opening War Montage:

The first X-Men standalone film, X-Men Origins: Wolverine, received overwhelmingly negative reviews, with a 37% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Nonetheless, its opening montage brilliantly sets the stage for Wolvie’s solo travels. Logan and his mutant half-brother Victor Creed participate in several battles during their immortal lives, including the American Civil War, both World Wars, and the Vietnam War. Instead of a trite, clichéd origin narrative, Fox could have made an entire film about Wolverine fighting in Vietnam or World War II based on this moment.

2. The Matrix Reloaded – The Freeway Chase:

Although the first Matrix film was hailed as a game-changer in blockbuster cinema, its back-to-back sequels did not fare so well. Entertainment Weekly named The Matrix Reloaded one of the “25 Worst Sequels Ever Made.” While the sequel misses the original’s crisp storyline and thought-provoking concepts, it more than makes up for it in action-packed spectacle. The highway chase, in particular, ranks with the lobby gunfight from the previous film. As Morpheus battles two tough-as-nails twins on the roof of a moving truck, Trinity zips her motorbike in and out of traffic.

1. Spider-Man 3 – Sandman Is Born:

The addition of Venom and the New Goblin overstuffs Spider-Man 3, but the threequel’s first nemesis, the Sandman, is immensely sympathetic. He turns to crime to pay for his terminally sick daughter’s treatments, and ends up getting endowed with sand-based superpowers after stumbling into an experiment while fleeing. From a scientific sense, his DNA being merged with sand is ludicrous, but witnessing a person discover they’re suddenly composed of sand is devastating. He tries to pick up a locket with a photograph of his daughter’s face on it, but it slips through the sand.
