Spears’ 14th top 10 song, and John’s 29th, each highlight the achievement, which is her first in nearly 10 years. The track was released as a single on August 26, 2022, by EMI and Mercury Records. The song incorporates elements from Tiny Dancer (1971), The One (1992), and Don’t Go Breaking My Heart (1976) by Elton John.

Britney Spears Makes her Return to the Charts

Amidst the drama that Britney Spears has been involved in, her song, Hold Me Closer with Elton John has found its way to the top 10 songs 0n Billboard Hot 100 charts. After nearly 13 years of conservatorship that ended in November of 2021, the Toxic singer is finally back on the charts. Spears, 40, changed the trending hashtag #FreeBritney to #FreedBritney after the court hearing in Los Angeles. Hold Me Closer is the first track she has released after these events. Elton John and her were elated with the responses to the song. The single also was a huge milestone for John as it was his highest chart position in 25 years.

Spears shared an emotional message on Instagram regarding the release and success of her new single with Elton John. Spears wrote, “…the fact that I’m doing a song with Elton, makes me wanna freaking cry, he’s me and my mother’s favorite musician…” She expressed her gratitude for working with a legend like Elton John, “Wow, what an honor to be working with such gifted hands!!!”

Britney Spears’ Asking Son for “Unconditional Love and Support”

After the release and success of her new single pop singer, Britney Spears found herself in another controversy. This time involving her and ex-Kevin Federline’s 15-year-old son, Jayden James. 60 Minutes Australia interviewed Federline and James, where their responses seem to have been hateful toward Spears. The interview involved questions regarding Spears’ controversial conservatorship. Following the interview, Spears went on to Instagram to send a message to her son, “Jayden, as you undermine my behavior just like my whole family always has with, ‘Hope she gets better, I will pray for her…’ Pray for what?”

Spears also added that she does not need criticism regarding her mental health from her family, only “unconditional love and support.”
