There are talks of an HBO Max series for Harry Potter in the works. While the project is still in early development, that has not stopped the fans from fan casting their favorite Harry Potter characters.
Charlie Rowe – Harry Potter
He may not be as well a known name in show business. But Rowe does have the background to play the titular role. Rowe has worked with acting heavyweights like Octavia Spencer and Dave Annable for Fox medical drama Red Band Society. In terms of movies, Rowe has had pivotal roles in films like The Golden Compass and the Peter Pan prequel titled Neverland. We did not just choose Charlie Rowe randomly. He hails from England and speaks in a thick English accent. This fits well as far as the lead character’s backgrounds are concerned.
Ron Weasley – Cameron Monaghan
Ron Weasley started out as just comic relief in the early phases of the Harry Potter series. Later on, he became one of Harry’s staunchest allies. Cameron Monaghan is an actor well-0known for his roles in shows like Gotham where he played the Joker. Other prominent roles of his include the Showtime comedy drama series – Shameless. We could not find a person better suited for the role of Ron Weasley other than Monaghan. He is freaking perfect.

Hermione Granger – Zendaya
To play the role of Hermione Granger, the actor must possess a certain degree of élan and panache. We could have picked a white actor for the role but settled for Zendaya because she radiates that same style and power in simplicity the way Emma Watson carried the character on screen. Some of you might be already up in arms for casting a non-White actor in a traditionally white role. We have to bring to your attention that J.K Rowling was subject to harsh criticism for having an almost all White core cast for the series. When the HBO Max series happens, changes and amendments need to be made. Zendaya mot just is suitable for Hermione but is also an amicable solution agreeable to all to that end.
Sirius Black – Oscar Isaac
Sirius Black was an ally to Lily and James Potter. He was also one of the greatest thorns at the side of Voldemort before his rise to power. Gary Oldman immortalized the role when he first debuted on screen. Only a few actors have the acting chops to fill in for Oldman. Oscar Isaac is an award winning actor with tons of versatility in the field. He would be a natural for the role of Sirius Black.
Draco Malfoy – Timothée Chalamet
The duplicitous Draco Malfoy was a nuisance till we saw him in action in Half Blood Prince. He was partly responsible for Dumbeldore’s death and the eventual rise of Voldemort to power. Timothée Chalamet plays the lead role in the upcoming and highly anticipated Dune movie. He looks the part and with a little bit of make up, would rock it as the Slytherin snake.
Lord Voldemort – Benedict Cumberbatch
Lord Voldemort’s inhuman appearance is the result of using powerful magic that divided his soul into multiple pieces called Horcruxes. Now with a form of immortality at his disposal, Voldemort was nigh invincible. As a result of the spell, he got a tall, reptilian face and physiology. Fortunately, Benedict Cumberbatch is known for his tall stature, baritone voice, and a tendency to play mysterious/antagonistic characters with relative ease.
Filius Flitwick – Peter Dinklage
Filius Flitwick was a part-Goblin wizard who served as one of the many faculty of Hogwarts. He was a member of Ravenclaw and a very powerful sorcerer in his prime. Peter Dinklage, who played Tyrion Lannister in Game of Thrones, would be absolutely terrific as Filius Flitwick. Maybe he could do what the previous actor who portrayed the role of Flitwick – Warwick Davis, couldn’t. Flitwick could actually end up becoming a fan favorite if Dinklage takes up the reins.
Rubeus Hagrid – Nick Frost
Could there be a better person to play Rubeus Hagrid other than the legendary Brit comedian Nick Frost? Nick Frost has actually been getting a lot of mails from fans to pressure Warner Brothers into considering him for the role of Hagrid in the rumored Harry Potter HBOI Max series. We still do not know if he would take up the task and officially submit his name for playing the character. But we are optimistic it happens. Nick Frost as Rubeus Hagrid would be a dream come true for many Harry Potter fans.
Minerva McGonagall – Michelle Yeoh
A seasoned and veteran wizard of the Wizarding World, Minerva McGonagall is a character nobody could ever hate. She hails from Scotland and is the daughter of a Muggle father and a witch mother. The timeless portrayal by Maggie Smith could only be rivalled by someone who is known to play powerful female roles. Michelle Yeoh, former Bong girl and a very well-known name in the industry could do the role justice.
Severus Snape – Mark Strong
Severus Snape was ,any things – conflicted, confused, mysterious, secretive, and a lot more. A bad guy, he was not. He served as the potions master for Hogwarts and later became the Defense Against The Dark Arts teacher. Later he was chosen as the new Headmaster of Hogwarts. Mark Strong, with his picture perfect black attire in the movie Stardust, has been termed as a spitting image of Alan Rickman’s Severus Snape in Harry Potter.

Albus Dumbledore – Morgan Freeman
Dumbledore is more than just the Headmaster of Hogwarts. He was one of the Wizarding World’s foremost authority on magic and sorcery. Over the years, he had amassed a fortune in terms of mystical knowledge. The only Wizard Voldemort ever truly feared was Albus Dumbledore. With a calm and poised demeanor, Dumbledore was secretly a highly cunning and manipulative sorcerer. Michael Gambon has played the role of the Wizard with perfection. Only a select few could ever come close to casting a shadow just as big. With a benign spirit and composed face, Morgan freeman is the actor for the role. To be honest, he is the only one who comes to mind.
