Based on the new testimony in Johnny Depp’s ongoing defamation trial against Amber Heard, entertainment-industry expert Kathryn Arnold testified on Monday. He said that Heard was able to stay in the upcoming sequel only because Momoa and director James Wan “committed to her” and were “adamant she was in the film.” Depp’s lawyers also recalled Richard Marks, a Hollywood lawyer and expert on the entertainment industry.
Marks said that Jason Momoa who is Heard’s co-star in Aquaman was ‘not a comparable actor’ to her. And it didn’t matter if she renegotiated her contract for the sequel. He said:
“My opinions are that she’s very slick and smooth but she’s not making a deal in an expert. Her assessment of damages is built on nothing and is wildly speculative”

Arnold testified that in the first outline of the follow-up film, Mera had a strong romantic arc. Including an action sequence that Heard spent many months training for. Heard alleged earlier in the trial that her appearance in Aquaman 2 was “pared down” because of Depp’s lawyer’s allegations. Heard’s agent confessed in previous testimony that she was told that her client’s minor part was due to a lack of chemistry with Momoa. But Arnold answered this explanation.
He said that Warner Bros. after doing a chemistry test with her co-star, as per Arnold’s calculation, Heard’s career was once on a track for a “meteoric rise” similar to the paths of Momoa. Arnold figured that Heard’s losses from the “hoax” testimony from Depp’s lawyer were between $45 million and $50 million. Arnold also added that fans began a negative social media campaign using Depp’s lawyer’s terms. It included a petition to eliminate Heard from the Aquaman sequel. It is now increased to more than 4.3 million signatures. Following this, Marks added that:
“He played Conan the Barbarian. He was in Game of Thrones, it’s not comparable.”
Doug Bania, Depp’s social media and internet analytics expert, also recalled the evidence. It’s of his examination of Heard’s equivalent, Ron Schnell. Bania said that Schnell ‘provided no correlation of any evidence’ with Depp’s lawyer Adam Waldman and Heard about negative hashtags. Bania said:
“Both Mr. Schnell and Miss Arnold have failed to provide any evidence that relates to the Waldman statements causing harm to Miss Heard.”
