The defamation lawsuit filed by Hollywood celebrities Johnny Depp and Amber Heard have been reopened as of May 16. Following that, Amber Heard recorded her further statements in court. Amber apparently revealed multiple incidences of domestic abuse at her ex-husband Johnny Depp’s hands in front of the judge. Some old images of Heard after the last assault were also presented to the judges. Amber’s face was covered with red marks and swelling in these photos. Amber also stated that she used makeup to cover the marks of Depp’s assault.

Johnny Depp sued Amber Heard for $50 million for defamation.  He alleges that following the divorce in 2018, Amber published a piece in The Washington Post. She accused Johnny of domestic violence in this piece without naming him. Johnny alleges that his reputation was ruined as a result of the piece, and he was dismissed from a number of projects. Amber, on the other side, has filed a $100 million claim against Johnny, accusing him of domestic and sexual assault.

The jury examined many images of the actress throughout the hearing that attempted to illustrate the abuse she said she endured during her relationship with Depp. Amber’s face was red and swollen in several of the photographs. Depp allegedly threw a phone at her face, according to the actress. After this incident in May 2016, she filed for divorce two days later.

Depp argues that he never assaulted Heard and that she is faking charges of abuse. Earlier in the trial, jurors heard from police officers who responded to emergency calls during the last confrontation and stated that Heard’s face was red from weeping but that no obvious bruises were visible. Witnesses also stated that they did not notice any injuries on Heard’s face in the days after the incident.

Amber Heard, however, stated that she didn’t cooperate with officers and used a color correction wheel that she called her “bruise kit” to cover up marks on her face. “I’m not going to walk around LA with bruises on my face,” she said. Depp’s lawyer Camille Vasquez cross-questioned Heard about various images of her that didn’t appear to show injuries despite being taken days after claimed abuse events. Heard said she covered injuries with cosmetics and used ice to lessen swelling. She responded, “You should see what it looked like under the makeup.”
