Anime : 10 Must Watch Shonen Jump Series For Beginners !

At a point, we all have been at that dilemma where we want to start watching anime but just do not know where to start from ! This pandemic has made us reach at epitome of boredom and most of us have ended up sitting in front of our screens and watched so many movies and series that now we have nothing else to watch.
We understand you and all of us have been there.  This could be the perfect time to start with anime series ; particularly the Shonen / Shounen genre.
Shonen jump genre anime are usually centered on a protagonist who has a goal he wants to achieve and in order to get there, he faces many challenges and has to improve his powers, skills or knowledge too. On the way he achieves lot of things, friendship being one of the most important one.
The anime usually features jaw dropping battles and amazing action scenes.

10.  Black Clover !

 

Black Clover is a recently launched shonen anime. It came out in 2017 and  new seasons are upcoming. Black Clover already has a huge fan base thanks to the manga created by Yuki Tabata.
The manga has been beautifully adapted to the animated series by Studio Pierrot (who have also created famous animes like Naruto and Bleach)
Black Clover is a journey of two boys Asta and Yuno who were both raised together in an orphanage after they were abandoned as young babies. In a world of magic , Asta is born without it. He also shares the same goal as Yuno ; the one becoming Wizard King. Who would achieve it?

 

 

 

9. One Punch Man !

 

 

If you enjoy content with humor, One Punch Man is the anime for you. The story revolves around Saitama ; a man gifted with extreme strength. Apparently Saitama trained so hard that he lost the hair on his head. This world is full of heroes with lots of amazing power and Saitama can defeat the strongest villains with “one punch”.  There are tones of hilarious situation Saitama ends up with. If you enjoyed this show, you can also watch Mob Pyscho 100 (created by the same manga writer). You will definitely enjoy both these shows.

 

8.  Naruto !

 

All of us have heard about Naruto at some point of time. Either some friend recommended it to you or you saw it in some article or saw memes !
But trust us , the series deserves all the fame and love it receives. The series is named after the protagonist; Naruto an orphan who’s dream is to become the greatest ninja of his village and then the Hokage. He is hated by all the villagers for a certain reason. In his journey he comes across many villains and many battles. Naruto teaches many great lessons which could bring tears to your eyes! Naruto beautifully depicts the importance of love, kindness and teamwork.

 

 

7.  Attack On Titan !

 

 

This story is about survival. There are man – eating Titans in this world and the survivors must do anything in order to exist. The story opens with Shiganshina district destroyed after an Titan attacked and things get worse from there. Eren Jaeger; the protagonist vows to kill all the Titans who not only destroyed his hometown and killed his mother but also are a threat to humanity. Initially there have been arguments on whether AOT should be considered Shonen anime but it was originally published in Shonen magazine and has several similarities of the genre !

 

 

 

6. My Hero Academia !

 

 

My Hero Academia created by Kohei Horikoshi is the talk of the town right now. The adventures of Class 1 – A have been dangerous and the heroes have bravely come over them. The main protagonist is Izuku Midoriya who in the world of superpowers where everyone is born with quirks, Midoriya is born without a Quirk. His life changes when he meets his favorite superhero “All Might”, what happens next is for you to find out!
Even though it quite new, it already has fans all over the world and you won’t be disappointed.

 

 

5. Tokyo Ghoul !

 

 

If you are a fan of horror stories, this is a great option for you. The story takes place in a world which is occupied with dangerous ghouls who have powers and strength and eat humans. As a result there is always a battle between humans and ghouls.
Our protagonist, Ken Kaneki gets attacked by a ghoul is somehow saved by doctors who end up transplanting ghoul’s organs into him. His body keeps changing and he turns into a ghoul himself. Does he give up his human side and attack others to feed or does he control himself and decides the protect the humans ?

 

4.Demon Slayer : Kimetsu No Yaiba !

 

 

This story revolves around Tanjiro whose family is attacked by demons and die. However his sister survives but is turned into a demon. Tanjiro swears to kill the demon and turn his sister back to human by joining the Demon Slayer Crops. Tanjiro has a strong sense of smell which helps him to sniff the scent of the demons.
It is not an easy journey as he has to go under lot of trainings and face dangerous demons. Will he be successful in his mission? Find it out for yourself !

 

 

3. Jujutsu Kaisen !

 

 

Jujutsu Kaisen has taken the anime category by storm in the year 2020. It ended up winning the Best Anime award at the Crunchyrolls awards in 2020.
The story is simple yet interesting and full of action with a supernatural element. The story revolves around Yuuji Itadori who is an average high school student with immense strength . He one day in order to save people , ends up eating the finger of the most powerful Curse out there who is known as “King of Curses” aka Sukuna. Sukuna now wants to overtake his body and rule the earth one again ! It is filled with adventurous of Yujji facing many curses and defeating them. Would he be able to defeat Sukuna ?

 

2. Fullmetal Alchemist : Brotherhood !

 

This an exciting story set during the times of World War II involving magic and superhuman mutants. It even involves science in its magic which allows people to manipulate matter with their hands. Edward and Alphonse Elric who lose their mother, try to get her back using it. However they are not successful and Edward ends up losing an arm and a leg while Alphonse loses his entire body. Edward using magic binds his brother’s soul to a suit of armor.
Now their goal is to get back their original bodies and join as State Alchemist in order to find a way for the same. In this journey , they end up discovering numerous conspiracies which lead to connections with religion , war and innocent lives.

Fullmetal Alchemist has many numerous versions but they are not as good as the Brotherhood. Hiromu Arakawa has done a brilliant job in storytelling , and no wonder there are so many adaptations of the same. No doubt it is one of the BEST SHONEN ANIME out there. We strongly recommend it. And we promise that you won’t regret.

Eiichiro Oda’s One Piece is the only Shonen Jumps’s Big 3 which is still going on even after over twenty years after it began. Now with such long run, we would imagine that audience could get bored. But that is not the case because Oda has made sure that the fans never get disappointed with the amount of reveals and plotlines all over these years.
The story revolves around Monkey D. Luffy who is the protagonist. He has an enormous appetite and ends up eating a devil fruit by mistake. His body now turns into a rubber and he can stretch it. He has a dream of becoming the Pirate King and finding the treasure called “One Piece”. In order to do so, he must gather a crew and set out for this adventure.
The anime is more than just about his adventure. It is about compassion, love and friendship too.
We understand it is too long , but it is worth binge watching it !
