The Next Big Storyline For the MCU Will Be None Other Than Annihilation

We Got This Covered has been informed by a source that the next big storyline for the MCU  films will be none other than Annihilation, while Annihilus, obviously, will be the big bad. Unfortunately, however, we’re being told that this is something Marvel is slowly building towards and won’t really fully come into play until Phase 5 or so on. Similar to how it took the franchise a while to build up to Thanos and the Infinity Stones. And in between now and then, we’ll apparently be meeting Norman Osborn (who’ll be the next big bad of the franchise, before Annihilus) and seeing alot more from the Skrulls.

Phase 4 of Marvel Cinematic Universe

Phase 4, meanwhile, will continue the adventures of Doctor Strange, Black Panther, Spider-Man, Captain Marvel and apparently, even The Captain Britain. Only time will tell if any of those characters will stick around for the next two Phases to fight Annihilus, but if the comics will hold any clues, most of the heroes and villains in the arc were those who we typically see battling in outer space. So that’d be Star-Lord, Thanos, Gamora, the Skrulls, Drax, Galactus, Silver Surfer, Ronan the Accuser, etc. All of them and more were involved in the fight against Annihilus, but seeing how some of them are now dead or not around in the current MCU timeline, it’ll be interesting to watch how Marvel pulls off the Annihilation storyline off.
