Warning: People who haven’t watched Ant Man and the Wasp yet, might want to stay away from the content that follows.

The plot of Ant Man and the Wasp commences with Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) serving house arrest because he violated the laws in the Sokovia Accords by secretly helping Captain America while being in a conflict with the Avengers. Hank Pym and Hope are pissed off at Scott because he shattered their trust, however, Scott has successfully been able to get things right between his ex wife (Judy Green) and his daughter Cassie(Abby Ryder Fortson).

The movie also explores the theme of family at a very broad level. Meanwhile, Hank (Michael Douglas) and Hope (Evangeline Lilly) set up lab and are working tpwards building a gateway to the Quantum Realm in order to bring Janet Van Dyne back. Because Scott has already been to the Quantum Realm and returned, it made Hank and Hope sure of Janet being alive. Scott having dreams about Janet Van Dyne made Hank realize that Scott may have a Quantum Entanglement with his wife, Janet, which, in turn, would be helpful in tracking her down and bringing her back from the Quantum Realm.

Events advance and Scott is able to med his relationship with Hank and Hope. Among the many challenges ahead, overcoming Dr. Bill Foster (Laurence Fishburne) and Ava (Hannah John-Kamen) was the one challenge that remained constant throughout the movie. They were characters from Hank Pym’s past. However, Bill and Ava cannot be tagged as a villain entirely because they just wanted to save Ava’s life.

It was a happy ending for everyone. Janet was rescuded from the Quantum Realm, Hank got his wife back, Hope got his mother back. With the powers Janet acquired from the Quantum Realm, she was able to heal Ava. And last but not the least, Scott’s house arrest sentence finally came to an end and he got together with Hope too.

However, in the mid credit scene, we see that while Scott was in the Quantum Realm trapping Quantum Energy, Janet, Hope and Hank have been turned to ashes, just like the other avengers In Infinity War after Thanos snaps his fingers with the Infinity Gauntlet. Hence, Ant Man’s appearance in Avengers 4 concept art.
This brings about several new hypothesis and questions about the future events that could take place.

Evolution of Janet Van Dyne

After being trapped in the Quantum Realm for so many years, it is only obvious to expect drastic changes in Janet Van Dyne. We know that her skills and knowledge have always been far more superior to that oh Hank’s. But can we expect her level of expertise to widen after she returned from the Quantum Realm?
A lot of questions pop up regarding Janet’s appearance. Even after knowing so much about the time vortex and the fact that time and space works differently in the Quantum Realm, she did age. How was she able to survive, all alone, all these years, in a place which had no contact with the outside world? Or did it? She WAS able to connect with Hank and Hope through Scott by manipulating his mind after all. What else needs an explanation is the cloak that Janet was wearing at the time Hank found her. And how was she able to keep her cool even after so many years of isolation.

Furthermore, the powers that she acquired after being trapped in the Quantum Realm puts up question about the future of MCU. She was able to heal Ava within minutes, only by touching her, something which a genius like Bill Foster couldn’t do in years. Does this mean that Janet has a much more prominent role to play in the upcoming Avengers 4? We’d know.

Pym Particle and Quantum Energy

The power that Janet acquired from the Quantum Realm needs quite a few explanations. The evolution she talked about and the power displayed in Ant Man and the Wasp, we can be sure that there is definitely something more to the Quantum Energy than what we currently know.
Coming to the Pym particles, according to a source, it has negative effect on the individual using it. This explains Hank Pym’s past conflicts with Bill Foster and Elihas Starr a.k.a. Egghead (Ava’s father), which eventually led to destabilization of Ava’s body molecules.

Some more Avengers

The entire plot of Ant Man and the Wasp subtly explored the theme of family. However, it also subtly shed light on the possible additions to the Avengers family. Ava got her powers after an outburst of Quantum energy. After slipping to the dark side, she did regain her senses after being healed by Janet Van Dyne. Not to forget the support staff that included Luis (Michael Peña), Kurt (David Dastmalchian), and Dave (T.I.)

Not to doubt the skills of the Ghost, she has had experience form S.H.I.E.L.D. Bill Foster too might be seen suiting up as Goliath. Michael Douglas, in an interview revealed that he is expecting a prequel that goes back to the 90s and discovers young Janet, Hank and Bill in action. This however, won’t be surprising, given Marvel’s creativity in playing with timeline.
This could mean that even after Hank Pym, Janet Van Dyne and Hope Van Dyne turned to ashes, Ant Man won’t have to be alone in Avengers 4.
