If you think corporations and goodwill don’t go hand in hand, there are always celebrities out there trying by hook or by crook to prove otherwise for you. And why wouldn’t they, after getting millions for being the face of change or whatever fancy term they put on it? Meghan Markle is known to be associated with charitable organizations, while she comfortably sits on a multi-million fortune. The Suits alum has been a patron of Smart Works since 2019, and it is to this body that Markle has decided to make her latest contribution.

Giving Tuesday is almost here, and Meghan Markle is all set to collaborate with Cuyana, one of her favorite handbag labels, along with Smart Works, a UK-based women empowerment charity that has nine centers across the country. The organization assists unemployed women by providing them with career coaching and wardrobe consultations. The women are helped out with an interview outfit and then given a functional and limited capsule wardrobe consisting of workwear items. And now, they are getting an addition to the list of office essentials.

Cuyana is all set to donate 500 pieces of its ‘Classic Structured Totes’ worth $248 each to Smart Works, Markle’s patronage, with the goal of bringing women into the workspace.

Corporations, celebrities, and their big words for charity

The Duchess of Sussex, who has been seen carrying the bag herself as well, stated:

“Smart Works invests in women so they know they can thrive in any workplace, and Cuyana is a company that is by women and for women, so this feels like the perfect fit. Similar to the Smart Set collection we created many years ago for Smart Works, this collaboration will support women in the UK as they mobilize back into the workforce.”

The CEO of Smart Works said of the initiative,

“We know that when a woman looks and feels great about who she is, she can change her life,” said Smart Work…, “will bring joy and confidence to hundreds of the women we support.”

That is too many words for just donating handbags but something is probably better than nothing.
