Imagine Avengers going on an intergalactic adventure and after a while, they track down Thanos to “The Garden”. The Avengers ambush him, but it’s late and the Infinity Stones are already all destroyed. One interesting fan theory claims that Thanos himself finds out that The Earth’s Mightiest Heroes are working together to get the Infinity Stones, deciding to destroy them now that his job of Decimating half the world is done.

Shared by u/solethprime, the theory states that as Thanos has already snapped his fingers to Decimate half the universe, he no longer has any use for Infinity Stones. He will go on to destroy them so that the Avengers do not get their hands on any of the Infinity Stones or use the Gauntlet to reverse the effects of Thanos’ snap.

The theory also has some quotes from the most recent trailer to support the argument. As per the theory, where Thanos says that he’s going to “enjoy it very, very much” is when he gloats over Avengers or maybe someone else, that he is about to destroy all Infinity Stones.

So far, in all the released promotional materials, we have only seen the Gauntlet in one scene as Thanos walks on his farm. The Infinity Gauntlet seems hampered, as it was towards the end of Infinity War. Other descriptions also hint that Avengers find out that Thanos has used the Stones again in some way or the other. Could this be Thanos finding out how to use the Infinity Stones to destroy them?

Avengers: Endgame is clocked at around three hours- or more- and some cast members also state that the promotional material only touches the first sliver of the film. Even if the footage is from the first act, it leaves us with two hours for the Avengers on how to manipulate time or travel through the Quantum Realm to reach a timeline before the destruction of the stones and the snap.

Avengers: Endgame releases on April 26.
