Over the years, rapper Kanye West has set foot in multiple industries with collaborations like Adidas and GAP, and even tech projects like the Stem Player. His latest venture is Donda Academy, his own private school named after his late mother, Professor Donda West. The school, which is located in Simi Valley, California, aims to “prepare students to become the next generation of leaders” through “an ethic of integrity and care.” Recently, two families who sent their kids to Donda Academy revealed that they were asked to sign a nondisclosure agreement during the admission process.

Two families whose kids have been attending Donda Academy told Rolling Stone that they signed nondisclosure agreements. Tamar Andrews, a consultant to the school, denied the claims and said that the parents of each student only have to sign “an informal agreement,

“Honestly, we don’t care if people know about the school. The people that want to come to the school are looking for a good Christian school in that area and they know that we’re there … there is also a certain notoriety that comes with being affiliated with Donda. So, I don’t know that we have to advertise, which is a blessing and a curse.”

The school currently has less than 100 students and reportedly costs $15,000 a year. Nearly half of the children in the school have been awarded financial assistance or scholarships. The school is yet to be accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges.

Malik Yusef, who has collaborated with Kanye West in the past, praised the school saying that it offers opportunities to students that other schools don’t,

“People choose to bring their kids to Donda Academy for a sense of privacy. A sense of care, a sense of concern, a sense of love, an environment of health, an environment of wealth, an environment of learning, and putting God as a focus. The process of Donda school is for the parishioners, for the attendees. I don’t think Kanye needs to tell the world what he’s doing so that he can be under more scrutiny.”

Half of the attendees of the school are the children of people who have collaborated with the rapper and other celebrities who can afford the tuition fee.

Kanye West reportedly wanted his children, North, Saint, Psalm, and Chicago to attend Donda Academy, however, his plea was ignored. He bashed Kris Jenner earlier this month for sending his kids to Sierra Canyon despite the rapper urging them to send his kids to his private school. People on social media criticized the rapper saying that he compromised the safety of his kids by posting their school’s address on his public Instagram account.
