If you have ever felt the urge to roast your enemy to millions on Twitter, then this is for you: a fan went on to compare Black Adam to Shazam, and Black Adam actor Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson didn’t hesitate to drop an F-bomb in response. For many fans, this is nice – if done unintentionally – with a tinge of meta-humor since Shazam’s Zachary Levi wasn’t a part of this conversation, but has called out Henry Cavill’s Superman a lot of times, however, the actor never responded to the tweets by Levi. If this doesn’t reflect how Superman and Black Adam approaches conflicts, we don’t know what will.

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson Responds To Shazam Tweet

In DC Comics, Black Adam is a villain to Shazam and in the films, he has been reframed as an anti-hero and his connection to Shazam seems tenuous. The first Shazam film just had a brief mention of Black Adam.

Here’s the tweet:

While not much is known about Black Adam, Dwayne opts for concise teasers like saying that the “balance of power in DC is about to change,” or that “history is in the making” with the production of the film. Dwayne Johnson also revealed that he would like to do more Black Adam films, so while this seems like a stand-alone film, it’s possible that he can get more films with the rest of the DC heroes and villains.

The comics see Black Adam as Teth-Adam who is an Egyptian slave who got the powers of a wizard, Shazam. He used his powers to revenge on his masters and many others whom he thought deserved that fate. Shazam ultimately locked him away for misusing his powers. In the first Shazam film, we see a brief reference to the event where the wizard mentioned that a champion once misused his powers. While Adam wasn’t named, we are certain that he was being referred here.

In the teaser for the film, we see archaeologists with some military personnel, arriving at a temple. When they uncover an inscription, Adam arrives and takes out some of the soldiers.

Black Adam will release on July 29, 2022.
