Blake Lively made a funny dig at husband Ryan Reynolds’ acting sabbatical announcement. Reynolds, the hero of the Deadpool and Free Guy franchises, as well as a slew of previous and forthcoming films, recently revealed on social media that he would be taking a temporary break from acting. Red Notice, a team-up action picture starring Dwayne Johnson and Gal Gadot, will be released on Netflix in November. Two more of Reynolds’ films, The Adam Project and Spirited, will be released next year, with a slew of more in the works. However, between the conclusion of Spirited and the following project, the actor will take a short sabbatical.

Reynolds and Blake Lively co-starred in the 2011 superhero film Green Lantern, and they married in 2012. Lively is best known for her roles in “Gossip Girl,” “The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants,” “The Shallows,” and “A Simple Favor.” The Hollywood couple has three children together and lives a rather private existence, but they do provide glimpses into their personal lives from time to time, even if it’s only to poke fun at each other.

Lively revealed his intended hiatus in a comment on Reynolds’ article, which coincided with the recent (and already discredited) report that Michael Caine would be retiring from acting. Reynolds announces the completion of the comedy Spirited, in which he co-stars with Will Ferrell, in an Instagram post, and says it’s the “perfect time for a short break from movie production.” Following his announcement, the post received a lot of positive feedback, including one from actress Octavia Spencer, but Lively takes it to the next level with some typical Reynolds/Lively comedy. As a playful dig at her better half, she responded in the comments, “Michael Caine did it first.”

Lively is set to feature alongside Richard Gere, Lin Manuel Miranda, and Diane Keaton in the upcoming Edward Zwick/Marshall Herskovitz romantic comedy The Making Of, directed by Edward Zwick and written by Marshall Herskovitz. She will also be seen in the tense thriller The Husband’s Secret. Reynolds is currently working on a variety of projects, including the comedy Everyday Parenting Tips, a new Clue adaptation, and, of course, another round as his famed, foul-mouthed Marvel character in Deadpool 3. Reynolds and Lively are also involved in charitable activities, giving to organizations such as Feeding America and Food Banks Canada. In addition, Reynolds recently purchased Wrexham A.F.C., a Welsh football club. Rob McElhenney’s It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia is still a component of his cellular firm, Mint Mobile.

While most famous couples keep a very private profile, an increasing number of them are stepping into one other’s social media accounts to give some humorous and fascinating exchanges that may make for a good chuckle. Reynolds has a distinct sense of humor that has always been a part of his popular appeal, and it’s always entertaining to see Lively compete with him. Reynolds has a playful personality that engages and entertains his fans, as evidenced by his “feud” with Hugh Jackman, his funny ads for Mint Mobile and Match.com (produced by his company Maximum Effort), or simply taking a funny jab at Blake Lively on social media, making them a fun couple to follow.
