Brendan Fraser is a renowned actor who has appeared in various movies. His works include Crash (2004) and Gods and Monsters (1998). His new addiction, The Whale, got him various awards and an Oscar nomination for best actor. In the movie, Fraser plays the role of Charlie, an unhealthy English teacher. He is a 270kg schoolteacher slowly eating himself to death as he grieves the loss of his wife. For the character, the actor went to look perfect by gaining weight.

The Mummy franchise was backed by the talented actor Brendan Fraser. He played the character Rick O’Connell in the film. The films were successful, but Fraser had the worst experience shooting them. The actor had a major impact on his body while performing the stunts in the franchise. The 54-year star had various surgeries in his life.

He recently appeared on The Kelly Clarkson Show. While talking with the host, the oscar nominee explained a near-death incident he faced while shooting for The Mummy

The Whale actor recalling the experience, said they were filming a scene in which his character was to be hung in a public square. 

He went on to add,

“I was standing on my toes like this, with the rope [around my neck], and you only got so far [you can move]. And [director Stephen Sommers] ran over and he said, ‘Hey, it doesn’t really look like you’re choking — can you sell it?’ And I was like, ‘All right, fine.’ So I thought, ‘One more take, man.’ “

The Crash star told Clarkson what led to the incident. He added,

“The camera swooped around and I went up on the toes, and the guy holding the rope above me, he pulled it up a little higher and I was stuck on my toes — I had nowhere to go but down. And so he was pulling up and I was going down.”

The actor passed out, and the last thing he remembered was an elbow in his ear, the world sideways, and gravel in his teeth. The stunt coordinator woke him up and congratulated the actor.

Fraser’s latest movie, The Whale, gave fans glimpses of what might look like his best performance of all time. The actor went through a transformation to play Charlie. The story centers around Charlie, a gay, obese man who reunites with his estranged 17-year-old daughter Ellie after having left her and her mother for a younger male lover. The 54-year star’s performance received universal praise.

When the film got premiered at the Venice International Film Festival in September 2022, it received mostly favorable reviews from critics. The Mummy actor even got his first Oscar nomination for his latest film.

The Whale was released in cinemas on December 9, 2022.
