‘Britney is Barbie’: Millennials Reject Margot Robbie, Claim Britney Spears as OG Barbie Because Actual Barbies Were Based on Her
You could be excused for assuming that, with Barbie’s body measurements, it would be nearly difficult to find an actress who could play Barbie in a live-action movie about the doll’s life, much alone carry out the entire endeavor. However, the legendary role will soon be played by Oscar-nominated actress Margot Robbie, and we’ve officially lost our sh*t.
Even though we all know that Margot Robbie is a talented actress and will portray Barbie in the best way possible, millennials are upset about the same. As per some people, Britney Spears is the one who should be playing the iconic role for she is the one the actual Barbie was based on and not Margot Robbie.

Fans aren’t pleased with Margot Robbie playing Barbie
Come on, Barbie, let’s go party! The live-action approach to the story of the iconic doll line has been a long time in the making. Diablo Cody had planned to recreate the Barbie movie, with Amy Schumer playing the title character. Schumer withdrew, claiming scheduling issues, a few months after her casting was made public. Margot Robbie replaced Schumer as Barbie after her departure. In 2020, Robbie indicated that Barbie will be “the thing you didn’t know you wanted” in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter. And even though this is more than promising, half of the millennials aren’t ready to see anybody playing Barbie other than Britney Spears.

These tweets very well put forth that it will be really difficult for some people to move past Britney Spears’ Barbie and accept Margot Robbie in the role instead. In the film, Ryan Gosling will play Ken, Barbie’s lover, opposite Robbie. America Ferrera, Kate McKinnon, Simu Liu, and Alexandra Shipp will all be featured in the cast. The Barbie project started filming in 2022, and it will be released on July 21st, 2023.
