This October, Supernatural will kick off its fifteenth and final season. This long running series will finally conclude with 20 episodes, breaking all the fans’ hearts who have been following the show since it began. But there might be a reason to rejoice as the head of CW has suggested that there might be a chance for the way to come back. But there’s a condition.

Stars Jared Padalecki, Jensen Ackles and Misha Collins announced Season 15 would be their last earlier this year. They said at the time that:

“We wanted you to hear from us that, though we’re excited about next year, it will be the finale- the big, grand finals of an institution.”

But at the 2019 Television Critics Association Press Tour, CW President Mark Pedowitz recalled having talks with the show’s actors and producers about bringing the series to a close. He explained that there is one way to bring the show back:

“If you can convince them to come back, I’m open!”

It was said that even though the cast and crew decided to end Supernatural on their own terms, Pedowitz was ready to being the show back if they changed their minds.

Mark Pedowitz further said that:

“All I can tell you is that Jared, Jensen, Peter Roth from Warner Brothers Studio and myself, had a very, very long, sad, heartbreaking discussion. We all came to understand what the guys wanted to do.”

He explained that:

“They wanted to go out still relevant. They wanted to go be with their families. They wanted to see what else was out in the world and you know what? As we always said, and I said this many times, when they are ready to stop, we will stop. For them and for Stephen Amell on Arrow- these shows are going out the way they were supposed to go…but if you can convince them to come back, I’m open!”

Supernatural returns October 10 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on The CW for its final season.
