The long-anticipated Captain Marvel arrived in cinemas this past week, and as it looks, the film has already pulled off some amazing numbers at the box office. If you haven’t seen the film yet, maybe now is the time to go for it!
Captain Marvel Opens To A $188 Million Weekend
As on Friday in the US, the film had already made a whopping total of $188 million worldwide, with $127 million coming out of international theatres, which involves $34.3 million from China and $4.5 million from Australia.
As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, Captain Marvel opened to the seventh highest opening for a Marvel film. Captain Marvel was behind Black Panther, Civil War, Iron Man 3 and the three Avengers films.
Captain Marvel Opened to a lot of controversies
If we talk about a debut film for a comic book film starring a character, then Captain Marvel is only behind Black Panther, which opened at $200 million worldwide. The box office success of the film comes after months of negative user campaign from people who hadn’t seen it yet, but we’re still angry about Brie Larson’s diversity-related comments in Hollywood. Basically, they were just angry at her, for no real reason.
Rotten Tomatoes deleted various audience reviews that were posted before the film released in theaters. This was a part of a campaign to prevent disgruntled users from review bombing films before their release.
Captain Marvel Has Got 58,000+ Reviews
Captain Marvel had more then 58,000 user reviews within merely hours of its worldwide release. This, according to The Hollywood Reporter, is “is more than the total of audience score reviews for Avengers: Infinity War for its entire theatrical run.”
Meanwhile, if you haven’t seen this yet, here’s a video of Samuel L. Jackson, who plays Nick Fury and Brie Larson, busting out some Britney Spears and Ariana Grande songs in the Car Pool Karaoke episode.
