Captain Marvel will be soon hitting the theaters, and is already starting to distance itself from biggest guns like Wonder Woman and Aquaman in advanced ticket sales.
Can Captain Marvel compete against Aquaman and Wonder Woman?
Captain Marvel has also become the third biggest advance ticket seller for the MCU. It’s also pacing ahead of DCEU films like Wonder Woman and Aquaman. This is when you compare Captain Marvel with the two to the same point in the cycle. (via THR)
Now, both these films made great cash at the international and domestic box office. This means that Captain Marvel will have some work to do, especially in the case of Aquaman, as it has made over $1 billion worldwide.
Captain Marvel: Estimated Weekend Speculation and Early Week
We also believe that Captain Marvel is up to give the film some competition and it’s certainly getting off to a great start. Wonder Woman opened with $103 million and went on to gross $821 million worldwide. Aquaman opened with $67 million and ended up getting $1.1 billion worldwide.
Early tracking of Captain Marvel places the film around $100 to $120 million mark domestically. However we don’t know how it will perform overall. It’s too early for that, but we’ll keep you posted.
Captain’s Marvel’s early reactions have started coming in and have been so far positive, citing the Skrulls, Goose the Cat, Talos. So far, critics have seemed positive to Larson’s Captain Marvel and have teased the post-credits sequences as well.
Well, we won’t have to wait for too long before anyone sees it, as it’s just under a couple of weeks away.
