“Charlie didn’t look so good, He started talking to himself”: Charlie Sheen Was in Terrible Condition While Shooting Season 8 Of Two And A Half Men
The star of the sitcom Two and a Half Men Charlie Sheen’s 2009 meltdown is a well-known story. In his life, the actor has definitely seen a lot of problematic stuff. From substance abuse, alcoholism, and an arrest, he has experienced it all. And just like in any such case, his career and personal relationships got negatively affected. It also led to his exit from the popular TV show. Back in 2015, his longtime friend and co-star Jon Cryer released a book titled So That Happened, A Memoir. In it, he recounts the events of that year when Sheen was arrested on Christmas Day. And he also shared in detail the changes that came over him during the shooting of season 8 of the sitcom. It took place after his infamous Christmas arrest in 2009.
Jon Cryer Revealed That Charlie Sheen Changed For The Worse Due to Addiction
Any type of addiction whether it be alcohol or drugs always comes with a cost. And most of the time the cost involves personal relationships and the career of a person. This is seemingly what happened with Charlie Sheen. He had been dealing with alcoholism and substance abuse for which he went to rehab. Although currently he is maintaining sobriety and has been sober for more than three years since. However, before that, things really did go south for him in terms of his career and personal relationship. Sheen had already dealing with addiction when he was arrested on Christmas day in 2009.
Following that, he was back on the set of Two and a Half Men for season 8. But according to the details recounted by his co-star Jon Cryer, Sheen’s issues were showing up in his profession. An excerpt from his 2015 book So That Happened, a Memoir obtained by The Hollywood Reporter tells,
“Charlie didn’t look so good as we started our eighth season in fall 2010: gaunt, pale, sallow, even sweaty occasionally. He started talking to himself”
Moreover, Cryer said his friend’s addiction issues were visible from his appearance as he looked much skinnier and paler. And he also lost his ability to deliver lines perfectly. All this ultimately led to him getting terminated from the show after season 8. Even though he was the star of the show, Sheen could not continue up to the last season (12).
Why Did Charlie Sheen Get Arrested?
It came as a surprise to his fans when their beloved Two and a Half Men star Charlie Sheen was arrested on Christmas back in 2009. At the time, he had been dealing with alcoholism and drug abuse. The effects seemed to have seeped into his relationships. And he got involved in a domestic dispute with his wife Brooke Mueller. The actor did defend himself against the allegations of domestic abuse saying it was she who first got physical. And he had only reacted in self-defense. However that day Sheen was arrested and taken to the Pitkin county jail on the charges of a second-degree assault. He got bailed quickly afterward by paying an amount of around 8k dollars.
