By the time The Avengers was released, the world knew about Steve Rogers, aka, Captain America. Actor Chris Evans was definitely stealing the spotlight at that time. Now, a brand new piece of information has revealed that his overwhelming work somehow got into the way of smooth shooting. Marvel’s recently published book The Story of Marvel Studios: The Making of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, has the executive producer reveal some behind-the-scenes truth.

Latcham says that if the fans look at it properly they can see the lackluster disguise. The team decided to use makeup to cover Evas’ beard but it didn’t work well. While expressing his feelings, he said:

“If you look closely, we pasted this special-effect skin makeup over it. But it was all bumpy and looked terrible, so we just asked him to lean on his hand to cover it up.”

Chris Evans is a dedicated actor and the Hollywood knows it. When the team decided to shoot the shwarma-eating scene, they had to call Evans back. However, he was already busy shooting his upcoming film Snowpiercer. Evans, being the guy he is, goes back to don the Captain America costume again, but with a bushy beard. Moreover, it wasn’t in the hands of the team to get his beard removed. So, they simply went with makeup which wasn’t really effective. It’s funny how this detail is picking up fire once again because Joss Whedon, the very controversial Hollywood director has a history with bad special effects especially when it comes to beards.

Joss Whedon is always in the middle of controversy. But when it comes to his work in The Avengers, it is still praised because of its utmost importance to the MCU and its box office numbers. However, later in his career, Whedon once again came across a similar Chris Evan’s situation. While shooting Justice League (2017), he dealt with the same thing as Henry Cavill had a beard which he had to get rid of. Of course, he went ahead with special effects and the results were way more horrific than just make. Not even the film flopped, Cavill was made fun of and Whedon of course was slammed.
