A recent report by The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that both Chris Pine and Chris Hemsworth have exited negotiations to return for Paramount’s next Star Trek film.

The sources also reveal that after the disappointing performance of Star Trek Beyond, the studio is now trying to force pay cuts on the existing contracts of actors. This has resulted in Pine and Hemsworth reportedly dropping out of the project. Star Trek Beyond managed to earn only $343 million on a budget of $190 million, that resulted in its creators losing out on a lot of money.

The next Star Trek film will be directed by Jessica Jones director, S.J. Clarkson and its script is being written by J.D. Payne. Clarkson will be the first female director in the Star Trek franchise. The film will be produced by J.J. Adams and Lindsey Weber through Bad Robot films. This project will be different from the Star Trek script written by Mark L. Smith for Quentin Tarantino to direct, which start filming post Star Trek 4.

Stay tuned for more updates on Star Trek 4.
