Netflix dropped Part 1 of Lucifer season 5 a few days back on August 21st, leaving the show on a cliffhanger. Part 2 of the season is speculated to premier sometime around Christmas this year or early next year, according to Lucifer himself, Tom Ellis.

Lucifer the Devil

The issue at hand, as the actor himself and its two show-runner  Joe Henderson and Ildy Modrovich explain, is that the finale of Season 5 is yet to be shot in completion as shooting stopped because of COVID-19. And even once shooting resumes, it will be slow process with keeping in regards to every health and safety protocol.

But what can we expect from the show now that God played by Dennis Haysbert has finally descended on Earth after all these years of will he-won’t he?

Some major family drama, we hope!

Lucifer King of Hell

Part 1 of season 5 saw the archangel Michael coming down to earth from the Silver City and impersonating his twin brother Lucifer. The King of Hell had previously dropped back down to once more become it’s guardian at the end of season 4.

And unlike the main source material of these characters, #MichaelIsADick. The hashtag was started by Lucifer’s Tom Ellis himself the moment the season dropped on Netflix.

The twins apparently have a rivalry as long as time, although not much has been touched upon that subject. The end of Part 1 saw Lucifer and Amenadiel fighting against Michael backed by Maze in the middle of the precinct.

After going without his ability to slow down time for some time, D. B. Woodside’s Amenadiel suddenly stops time altogether. In the middle of Lucifer finally confessing his feelings to Chloe, she is frozen in time along with everyone else. And when Lucifer is trying to calm his brother down to start time back up, Michael shows up.

Fight ensues and then comes Maze played by Lesley-Ann Brandt, who for the whole season has been trying to “find herself”. And has now come to the conclusion that she needs a soul to finally find her happiness. Michael being the manipulative angel he is, promises the demon a soul in exchange for her help in defeating Lucifer.

But soon enough, as everyone is busy fighting each other, Dear Dad himself graces everyone with his presence. For the first time, the audience meet God as he scolds his children with a “You know I hate it when you fight.”

Lucifer with Amenadiel and Michael

Now that the season is halfway through, what can we expect from the rest of it with God standing among his children and the rest of the world.

The show-runners have talked about the season being emotional, which is expected now that the father is back with his sons after eons of separation. Lucifer and his Detective who had just started on their relationship after 4 seasons of tension, might have some new obstacles to face with the one who had been pulling all the strings, in front of them.

Lucifer and Detective Decker

The subject of Chloe being a gift from God was finally addressed this season. And although Lauren German’s character had some issues with it initially, her and her beau had finally moved past it. But with God himself being in the picture now, that is bound to bring up more questions in their minds.

Just like Lucifer and Chloe, every other character has their own issues to deal with.

Dan “Detective Douche” Espinoza is now finally in the know about the celestial beings roaming about in the city because of Michael’s trickery. The next half of the season will hopefully show him coming to terms with his newfound knowledge.

Amenadiel and Linda will focus on their son being a mortal and what it means in the long run. And the bubbly Miss Lopez will be facing some tough time after the fiasco with the serial killer as well.

IMDB has the titles listed for rest of the Season 5 and they maybe a clue to what we can look forward to.

  • Family Dinner
  • Bloody Celestial Karaoke Jam
  • Resting Devil Face
  • Daniel Espinoza: Naked and Afraid
  • A Little Harmless Stalking
  • Nothing Lasts Forever
  • Is This Really How it’s Going to End?!
  • A Chance at a Happy Ending

Lucifer and Chloe in Season 5

So some good old-fashion detective work suggests there will be some inevitable family drama, Detective Dan having another crisis to deal deal with in his life and some more family drama.

And maybe a happy ending for the Lord of Hell and his miracle.

So until we can get some answer to all these questions running around our mind, let’s keep streaming Lucifer on Netflix.
