It seems like Dave Bautista isn’t very sure about his return as Drax in the third installation of Guardians of the Galaxy. Earlier, the actor was unhappy of Disney’s decision of firing Guardians of the Galaxy director, James Gunn after a series of his decade-old tweets regarding rape and paedophilia resurfaced on the internet. Disney did not take any chances with the case that drew a lot of media attention and immediately fired Gunn.

Many people continued to support Gunn and several campaigns were also launched to bring the director back. Unfortunately, after a speculated personal meeting with Gunn, Disney decided to stand firm in their decision but that doesn’t mean that the studio will not use Gunn’s script for the upcoming GOTG film. Now the problem here is that even if Marvel goes on to make a third GOTG film, they might have to do without of their stars: Dave Bautista who plays Drax the Destroyer in the franchise.

During an interview on The Jonathan Ross Show, Bautista cast some doubt on his presence in the third Guardians installation because apparently, he’s unhappy with Gunn’s firing.

“It’s a bitter, bitter conversation because I’m not really happy with what they’ve done with James Gunn,” Bautista said on The Jonathan Ross Show. “They’re putting the movie off, it’s on hold indefinitely. To be honest with you, I don’t know if I want to work for Disney. “I love James. James really changed my life so it’s a personal thing too,” Bautista said. “I struggled, I starved for three years, I could barely get a job. There were a few people who believed in me along the way but James was the one who really changed the course of my life,”

He added.

Bautista has earlier criticised Disney’s decision to fire Gunn publicly and even the cast of Guardians including Zoe Saldana, Chris Pratt and many others signed a letter that supported the re-hiring of Gunn but Disney ultimately eliminated all the possibilities.

Bautista even tweeted recently still showing his support to Gunn, saying:

“I will do what Im (sic) legally obligated to do but [Guardians of the Galaxy] without [James Gunn] is not what I signed up for. GOTG w/o [James Gunn] just isn’t GOTG. Its also pretty nauseating to work for someone who’d empower a smear campaign by fascists #cybernazis. That’s just how I feel.”

Well, only time will tell if Bautista decides to stick around for longer but he is set to appear in Avengers 4 next to that releases in May 2019.
