DC Comics: Is Superman Finally Dead?
DC Comics’s The Warworld Saga is underworks, and it seems that Superman could have died after going against with the enemy Mongul.
As per the ending of Action Comics #1037, Mongul seems to have finally come as a winner against Superman as he stabs Man of Steel through his chest and he also mourns at the death of one of his allies. That particular moment from the comics left the readers wondering, “Is Superman done for good?”
DC Comics has already started teasing a “spiritual” sequel to The Death of Superman in their current series for the Man of Steel. Jon Kent has already visited the future and there he went in a museum which was dedicated to his father. There he reads about his father’s end as well.
On the other hand, DC Comics has been appealing their fans that The Warworld Saga is going to be much bigger event than The Death and Return of Superman. After Superman’s departure, Jon became the new Superman of Earth. But even if Kal-El is dead, it doesn’t seem that he will be disappearing completely.
If there is one thing which we have learnt from comics; it would be that no one is really dead in the world of comics! But looks like Superman’s visit to Warworld has probably costed his life.
In the Action Comics #1037, Superman has started to try his best to free Warworld from the clutches of Mongul. Superman along with Authority and Midnighter starts to attack but soon Midnighter gets a dangerous wound from Mongul’s warriors.
Mongul then explains to Superman that since Warworld is above Stay Forges (that fabricates radiation similar to Red Sun), Superman has become vulnerable to the attacks. After Lightray is killed, Man of Steel cannot get himself together and that very moment, Mongul successfully stabs him right through his chest that too with a kryptonite spear and even uplifts his body in the air.
Mongul is a dangerous threat and he has proved to be exactly that in front of the heroes after killing Lightray (and maybe Superman as well).
Considering that he was already affected by radiation caused by the Red Sun and on top of it being stabbed by a kryptonite spear makes us feel that maybe he is really dead! Looks like readers will have to wait and see if fan favorite superhero is finally dead!
