When we’re talking about powerful characters in comics, Marvel’s Thanos and DC’s Darkseid are close to top the list. After all, there are very few Marvel characters who can truly give Thanos a run for the money and on the other side, Darkseid is only rivalled by the likes of Superman.

But what would happen if the two of them go against each other? It’s an interesting question, and folks at Screw Attack on YouTube have decided to solve in their latest Death Battle. While Thanos may have dusted the heroes, he was no match for Darkseid.

The video spent a lot of time breaking down the histories of both the characters and strengths while giving a solid sense of where each character stands. Thanos, for instance, is really strong and is also largely indestructible as well as having the bonus of Infinity Gauntlet for his aid. Darkseid has a New God philosophy and a wide array of abilities, not limited to matter manipulation and impressive Omega Beams. With these, it becomes pretty clear that Thanos doesn’t have much of a chance.

Darkseid is also faster and stronger and he has one thing in his favour: Thanos needs Infinity Gauntlet and the gauntlet works only within its own universe. This means that if Thanos brings the fight in the DC universe, the Gauntlet won’t work. However, if Darkseid heads to the Marvel Universe, the Gauntlet might work, but not on the real Darkseid.

Or in other words: “Thanos needed the Gauntlet to become a god. Darkseid already was one.”

Captain Marvel star Brie Larson was recently asked if she thinks about Thanos considering that the hero is expected to play a significant role in Endgame and it turns out she’s not impressed.

“He looks kind of shrimpy to me,” Larson said.

Fans have known for a while that Captain Marvel is set to become one of the most powerful members in the MCU and earlier, Larson revealed that the character can even move planets with his sheer strength.

“It is but that stuff is my favorite part because that’s where you find the character you know,” Larson said when asked about the difficulty of training at the Crystal + Lucy Awards back in June. “For me, it’s all about how far can I take myself to kind of reprogram my brain and reprogram my body to learn something new about myself, and so this has been an amazing challenge. She’s so, so strong. She can move planets so to me it was like how far can I go with this strength.”
