This future we’re addressing also showed a close friendship between Iris West and Ryan/Batwoman, as the duo has helped each other as civilians also in Ryan’s quest to become a superhero. While acknowledging the issue with Barry’s Reverse Flash crashing Eobard and Iris’ engagement event, Ryan came up with some technology that she thought might just help – a certain gun that can remove the Speed Force from a speedster. As Ryan states, the team had used it earlier while facing the ‘lady in red.’

While this could be a reference to Red Alice, a moniker that was used by Batwoman’s Alice in DC comics, the Speed Force connection has made some people wonder if it was actually a reference to Red Death?

Who is Red Death?

For those who don’t know, Red Death is a somewhat new addition to the DC family, making his debut in 2017’s Greg Capullo and Scott Snyder’s Dark Days: The Casting #1. He’s a member of the Dark Knights which is a group of multiversal Batmen led by The Batman Who Laughs. Red Death was actually revealed as a deadly mashup if The Flash and Batman. The name of Red Death was earlier dropped in a season of The Flash, which is also set in the future – making some wonder if the character can appear in the Arrowverse.

“There’s small Easter eggs, there’s big Easter eggs. When we were in season three, Savitar was talking about DeVoe being one of his biggest foes,” former The Flash showrunner Todd Helbing previously told ComicBook.com. “We like to leave it up to the fans to try to figure out which its going to be. Who’s maybe a big bad the next season, who’s just a name drop. Godspeed sort of fell into the best of both worlds. We can have an episode with him, introduce him and then bring him back at some point in the future because he’s a major comics villain so we would never want to do a guy like that in just one episode.”

Previously, the mention of Red Death had many fans wondering if they’ll get to see alternate versions of Batwoman’s Oliver Queen or Bruce Wayne going evil and taking the mantle. However, this reference in Armageddon has definitely had fans scratching their heads. There’s also a possibility that Red Death could be an evil version of Kate Kane or even Ryan Wilder, who had the access to the Speed Force. While the episode’s future was removed after the reality reset by Barry, it still adds a lot of curiosity around the potential debut of Red Death, either on Batwoman or The Flash.
