In Disney+’s Ahsoka, Hayden Christensen could return as either Darth Vader or Anakin Skywalker. It will happen as a result of a force ghost mentoring his flashbacks.
Chapter 13: The Jedi
Hayden Christensen returns to the Star Wars in Disney+’s Ahsoka as Anakin Skywalker, but will it happen after or before Skywalker becomes Darth Vader? The plot takes place five years later to the events of Return of the Jedi. This is what makes its place right at the time as The Mandalorian. Ahsoka Tano, starring Rosario Dawson, is the latest Star Wars series that is written by Dave Filoni. He is also the executive producer of the show, alongside Jon Favreau.
Rosario Dawson first appeared in The Mandalorian Season 2 with its episode 5, “Chapter 13: The Jedi.” Mando brought Grogu to her to entrust with the force-empowered kid so that he could learn how to utilize his powers, a role that was later taken up by Luke Skywalker in The Mandalorian. However, Ahsoka has already made an appearance in Star Wars even before The Mandalorian. She made her first appearance in Star Wars: The Clone Wars as a Padawan learner to Anakin Skywalker.
Anakin To Return As Either Pre-Sith Skywalker Or Darth Vader
Hayden Christensen’s return to the Star Wars fold has been announced with Disney+ Obi-Wan Kenobi that takes place after Anakin’s transitions into Darth Vader. Well, this does not mean Anakin will be seen out of the mask and helmet-like what shown in Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back. Apparently, Ahsoka takes place years after the demise of Darth Vader, then why Christensen is returning? With that said, Star Wars: Return of the Jedi could help echo the answer to this. In the digitally released version, it was Christensen who replaced Sebastian Shaw as the force ghost. Luke found that the Anakin’s force ghost is residing with Yoda and Obi-Wan after the defeat of his empire. With force ghost-enabled and Anakin redeemed, it makes perfect sense for the master to raise a concern towards his old apprentice.
Now Anakin could return as either pre-Sith Skywalker or Darth Vader. But as far as now is concerned, a Force ghost interacting with Ahsoka would sound much more compelling. However, Ahsoka was not present during the events of Return of Jedi and that is why it is quite uncertain for her to know Anakin’s role in the victory. Apparently, Ahsoka and Darth Vader went against each other in Star Wars: Rebels, and the animosity between the two was quite clear.
Hayden’s return as either Vader or Anakin in the Star Wars TV show will bring quite an exciting opportunity to discover how one deals with a past that has as many mistakes as Anakin’s life has had. However, the concept of a force ghost towards the path of redemption is new for both Ahsoka and Star Wars that offers a perfect vehicle to explore the tasks. At last, Christensen’s return will be a cathartic experience for the Jedi as the one who is master to her will become the most afraid Sith in a galaxy that is very far.
