Eternals is one of the MCU’s most self-contained movies and yet it does set up many future Marvel projects. Possibly Avengers and the Masters of the Mystic Arts could have helped the Eternals in their fight against the plans of the Celestials but they were never aware of their existence not of MCU’s Deviants or even the presence of Tiamut inside the Earth’s core.
Now that Arishem has revealed himself, anyone will start asking questions. The movie has also hinted at the introduction of Black Knight which opens an entirely new door for the MCU. And there are many seeds planted for the future MCU titles in Eternals:
1. Black Knight
This is the most evident setup. The movie does tease Dane’s complicated family history and also reveals that he has possession of the Ebony Blade. And Sersi’s disappearance has motivated Dane Whiteman to pick up the cursed sword and take on the mantle of his ancestors to become Black Knight. If not a movie, we could possibly get a Black Knight Disney + show that could also explore the previous owners as Dane learns more about the sword.
Blade has been a highly anticipated movie since it was announced in 2019. And Eternals’ just had Mahershala Ali’s voice cameo in Eternals’ post-credits scenes as he stops Dane from touching the Ebony Blade. The inscription on the Ebony Blade’s box read as “Mors Mihi Lucrum,” which means “Death is My Reward.” This phrase could also allude to the undead. SO maybe we could see Blade appear alongside Dane Whitman in Black Knight movie or TV show before he makes an appearance in his movie. Or Dane could be a supporting character in Blade.
3. Black Panther 2
Sersi froze Tiamut’s body and that could take more than the entire workforce of Damage Control to clean it up so maybe the Atlanteans could finally come in the contact with the surface to do it. Namor, a powerful hero has been known for his temper and could believe that the surface world is responsible for the damage caused.
4. Fantastic Four
Eternals established the powers of the Celestials which opens the doors for a Celestial who has his eyes on Earth; Galactus, the Devourer of Worlds. Galactus is one of the famous villains of the Fantastic Four and one of the most powerful characters too. Tiamut’s failed birth could gather his attention and make him realize that the planet is a highly coveted source of energy. His arrival would finally bring Fantastic Four to come out of the shadows and convince him to spare Earth and also allow Silver Surfer to make his first appearance.
5. Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3
The Domo which is now piloted by Makkari, Druig, and Thena could possibly cross paths with Star-Lord and his team after they drop off Thor in Thor: Love and Thunder. Or maybe, Starfox and Pip the Troll could lead the remaining Eternals to where the Guardians are headed in order to question Nebula about Thanos’ death aka Starfox’s brother. Pip is all very close to Adam Warlock in Marvel comics so he could be alongside him in GOTG Vol.3
6. Infinity Watch
The Infinity Watch is a group of powerful cosmic characters who agree to protect every Infinity Stone to prevent a villain like Thanos from assembling another Infinity Gauntlet. They do not have a regular lineup fixed as the Avengers but some of the most important members are set to be the key players in Phase 4.
The first version was led by Adam Warlock and had Drax, Gamora, Maxam, Moondragon (Drax’s daughter), a reformed Thanos, and Pip the Troll and was in charge of the Space Stone. With Thanos gone Dr. Strange has his Time Stone back and maybe MCU’s Infinity Watch could draw inspiration from the second version of the team which had Strange as the leader and also had Captain Marvel and Star-Lord as new members.
The third lineup also had Loki as the leader and guardian of the Soul Stone; Kang the Conqueror as the keeper of the Reality Stone and Ms. Marver of the Mind Stone.
