Marvel’s Eternals is no doubt one of the most anticipated movies to come.
Along with its voguish cast in action, the film may also reveal who came up with the rules for the Soul Stone from Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame.
The Mysterious Soul Stone
We are aware soul stone is one of the six infinity stones. Moreover, it pivots as one of the biggest MCU mysteries.
The Stone, apart from being mounted on Thanos‘s gauntlet, itself caused two prominent deaths in MCU. The Stone ultimately cost the lives of Gamora, who was thrown away by Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War and Black Widow, who sacrificed herself for good in Avengers: End Game.
Marvel divulged Space, Mind, Reality, Power, and Time Stones through Captain America: The First Avenger, The Avengers, Thor: The Dark World, Guardians of the Galaxy, and Doctor Strange respectively.
But the presence and whereabouts of soul stone kept a secret till 2018. Infinity war takes the honor of unveiling the Stone. Above all, the way to the Stone is guided by Captain America’s renowned nemesis Red Skull.
The Rules Of Soul Stone
Thanos, accompanied by Gamora, comes across this long-forgotten villain on Vormir on his quest to get the soul stone.
The Red Skull explains to Thanos and Gamora that his search for one of the Stones caused him deported to Vormir. He adds that he guide others to a “treasure” he can never take.
Further, he explains that to obtain the soul stone, one must sacrifice what they love. Willing to sacrifice what you love is the key to acquire the Stone so that one who wields it can have a proper understanding of power.
It stands out to be the reason why the Red Skull could never have it.
Thanos, then with no doubt, sacrifices Gamora, his loving daughter, to possess the Stone the same way Hawkeye after the self-sacrifice of the Black widow.
Involvement of The Celestials
Every thing’s ok apart from their deaths. But who imposed all these rules? A soul for a soul?
This hasn’t been scoured yet, but more could be learned about the Infinity Stones in Marvel’s Eternals movie.
The upcoming movie may feature Celestials, who were previously mentioned in Guardians of the Galaxy. These cosmic beings of supreme power were once wielders of the Infinity stones.
It’s further hinted at in Avengers: Endgame when Nebula talks about Vormir. She claims it’s the “center of Celestial existence.” It suggests that the planet maybe, once the home for Celestials.
According to the Collector, a “group” was able to share the power of the Stones. This could mean that six of the Celestials each had their Stone.
So by connecting the dots, we can assume that Celestials, before forced to give them up, may have separated the Stones and found ways to keep them out of the wrong hands.
According to comics, Celestials are those who created Eternals and Deviants. The imposed specific rules upon Eternals that not to involve in human affairs. Humans may not progress well if Eternals interfere in human issues according to the celestials.
The same logic may get used in the Eternals movie, regarding their approach to the stones. So everything points out to The Celestials as those who made the Soul Stone rules.
