If there’s one franchise which is capable of giving DC and Marvel a run for its money then it’s the Fast and Furious saga. The Fast and Furious 9 trailer has already premiered and fans can’t handle seeing Han again. There is a constant question emerging- How is Han alive after dying in The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift?. That’s not all. There is a Justice for Han thing going all around the internet as well. This has got everyone hyped up. So lets try to find some answers these questions.
Check out the F9 trailer below:
Han’s Fate In Fast And The Furious Franchise
To answer the question about Han we have to go back to The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift. There Han had fled to Japan. He met Sean Boswell and took him under his wing after Boswell thrashed his Nissan Silvia in a race with his rival Takashi. Over time, the two became close and Han taught Boswell how to drift while getting back the money for the car through errands.
At the end, Takashi took his vengeance on Han for harboring his rival as well as stealing money from the profits of their Yakuza operation. Boswel and Han do flee, but a mysterious Mercedes t-bones the older driver’s car, killing him.
In later movies we learn that the brother of the villain from Fast & Furious 6 is the man that killed Han. But it gets weird from there as later in the series, Deckard Shaw is seen running around with the good guys despite murdering one of Dom’s closest friends. This didn’t thrill the fanbase a lot as one can imagine. As for Han, he got a burial in Furious 7
What Does The “Justice For Han” Hashtag Mean?
The “Justice for Han” hashtag has popped up whenever a new Fast project has turned up. This time, the trailer actually actively alluded to it during the trailer as well. In the trailer Han strolls in with snacks in hand as “Justice is coming” written in big bold words flashes across the screen. This is about as direct of a reference as one can get. How will justice be given? That remains to be seen.
Fast & Furious 9 roars into theaters May 22nd.
