Statement by Olivia Wilde to clear the rumors of a feud with Florence Pugh
Following the recent controversy, Olivia Wilde praised Florence Pugh in front of the media during the Venice Film Festival. To clear the rumors, the director told the media present at the press conference that,
“Florence is a force. We are so grateful she’s able to make it tonight [for the red carpet] despite being in production on Dune. We’ll get to celebrate her work tonight. I can’t say how honored I am to have her as our lead. She’s [Florence Pugh] amazing.”
Florence Pugh was missing from the press conference as various tabloids were reporting on her alleged feud with Olivia Wilde. Her presence at the red carpet event reflected the awkwardness as the cast came together for the group photo. As the actress missed the media interaction, Olivia Wilde talked about the rumors of her alleged feud with Olivia Wilde as ‘endless tabloid gossip.’ She said,
“As for all the endless tabloid gossip and all the noise out there, the internet feeds itself. I don’t feel the need to contribute; I think it’s sufficiently well-nourished.”
Controversy amongst the other stars of the Don’t Worry Darling
At the same premier, Harry Styles and Chris Pine were heavily discussed on the internet. A video went viral and became the talk of the town as it showed the former One Direction singer reportedly spitting on Chris Pine. Netizens went on to claim that Harry Styles was reportedly affected by toxicity from Olivia Wilde.
While the reps ended up saying that both the stars have “nothing but respect” and called the matter “a blatant attempt to create drama”. The rep also added, “There is nothing but respect between these two men and any suggestion otherwise is a blatant attempt to create drama that simply does not exist.” With just few days left for the release, the production team is trying to avoid controversies around the movie.
