Florence Pugh, who plays Yelena Belova in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, responds to the exclusion of her Black Widow costume from a Halloween exhibit. Natasha Romanoff, played by Scarlett Johansson, made her first (and final) solo adventure earlier this year, which was released in cinemas and on Disney+ on July 9th. Following her sacrifice in Avengers: Endgame, Black Widow moves between Captain America’s Civil War and Avengers: Infinity War. The eponymous character in Black Widow joins forces with her surrogate family and other Red Room associates, Melina Vostokoff (Rachel Weisz), Red Guardian (David Harbour), and Pugh’s Yelena Belova.

Apart from her role as Yelena in Black Widow, Pugh has appeared in several films:

Pugh’s popularity has increased dramatically in recent years as a result of appearances in Lady Macbeth, Fighting with My Family, Midsommar, and Little Women. Critics have largely praised Pugh’s quick-witted character, from poking light of Natasha’s heroic landing to her fixation with a very utilitarian vest full of handy pockets—the first outfit Yelena bought for herself after fleeing the Red Room. At the conclusion of the film, Yelena gives Natasha all of those pockets, and when a blonde Natasha joins the Secret Avengers (Infinity War), she wears her sister’s green vest.

With This Post Florence Pugh Even Wrote:

“What the..
Apparently Yelena didn’t make the cut.
May I remind you that the vest has “A LOT OF HANDY POCKETS”..
Costume+vest+POCKETS= someone who came prepared.
IT IS with great importance we understand how vital Yelena is for Halloween.
Rant over, thanks for listening.”

With Halloween quickly approaching, Pugh turned to Instagram to post a shot of herself standing in front of a window display featuring costumes inspired by Johansson’s Black Widow and Harbour’s Red Guardian. The actress was eager to point out the lack of a Yelena-inspired outfit, whose pockets would undoubtedly come in useful on All Hallows’ Eve. Superhero costumes have long been popular during Halloween. Female-led superhero flicks such as Wonder Woman 1984 and Black Widow contributed to an increase in purchases in 2021. Given Pugh’s involvement in the latter, it’s a travesty not to sell Yelena’s vest, especially given that the character is slated to take on the mantle of Black Widow in the MCU. As famous as Pugh’s character has grown since the release of Black Widow, die-hard fans will definitely make their own Yelena costumes to wear this Halloween, especially after Pugh’s hilarious outburst. Aside from window displays, Marvel fans are likely to see a lot more of Yelena in Phase 4. Perhaps Pugh will see a lot of others dressing up as Yelena this Halloween as well.
