Todrick Hall, an American singer and YouTuber, has received harsh criticism from Stephen tWitch Boss’s friends after suggesting that Ellen DeGeneres’ toxic workplace culture may have pushed tWitch to commit suicide. The 40-year-old entertainer committed suicide on December 13, 2022. For the unversed, Hall made the implication this week while promoting a new reality show he’s doing, telling Page Six that the public pressure on the DJ to stop supporting DeGeneres was too much for the late star.

Todrick Hall continued, “I don’t know what was going on in his life that may have [caused] him to make that decision, but I can understand.” He was referring to tWitch’s decision to end his life.

Several former employees accused Ellen DeGeneres anonymously of allowing an on-set culture of racism, fear, and harassment in 2020. The shocking news sparked a flood of online criticism, some of which was directed at Boss, who defended the talk show host.

According to a source close to Boss, Todrick Hall’s assumption that he is aware of the circumstances behind tWitch’s death is highly careless and self-serving. The source thought it was sad that he would speculate, particularly while promoting his own work.

Stating how supportive the late actor was of Hall said,

“He was just somebody who always supported me. He was also warm and approachable. He visited my house a few times, and we shot TikTok videos together.”

Stephen tWitch Boss began working as a DJ on The Ellen DeGeneres Show in 2014 and was later promoted to co-executive producer in 2020. While mourning in late December, Ellen DeGeneres, the famous talk show host, also conveyed her intense heartbreak in the aftermath of Boss’s death, spreading the message to love one another.

DeGeneres could be heard stating, “Everyone is in pain and trying to make sense of it; we will never make sense of it, the holidays are difficult, I believe, but I believe the best way we can remember tWitch is to laugh, hug one another, play games, dance, and sing,” she concluded.

In a note referencing difficulties he had previously encountered, Stephen tWitch Boss left at least one hint as to the troubles he was going through before committing suicide, according to TMZ. The same news site was informed by the investigators that tWitch took an Uber less than a mile from his home to a nearby motel before turning his phone to airplane mode to prevent anyone from finding or following him.
