There are a few raging questions regarding MCU’s version of Wilson Fisk/Kingpin — played by Vincent D’Onofrio—if he is the same version of the character, Vincent played in Netflix’s Daredevil series. While the actor reveals that the process was mostly the same this time, he does admit that there have been a few changes to the character.

“I knew that he would be physically stronger, and I knew that he would be able to take more physical abuse. I knew that [going in],” D’Onofrio tells us.

However, even then, D’onofrio wanted to treat the character in a similar way because, as he sees it, that’s largely the only way to keep Kingpin intriguing.

“[Marvel was] just so excited that I said that, because it’s what they were thinking,” he tells us. “And I think that everybody realizes that the only way this character, as of now, stays interesting is if he has these, even if you make him stronger, as long as he’s always based that his foundation is his emotional life and the pain, everything comes through the pain that he went through as a child. Then we’ve got a character there, an interesting character.”

The first season of Hawkeye is now streaming on Disney+ while No Way Home is playing in theaters.

Even Hawkeye directors Bert and Bertie praised Vincent D’onofrio for his role as Kingpin/Wilson Fisk. Here’s what they said:

“We were lucky enough to work with him and to share time and space with him. He is the most remarkable actor, the way he holds space. That was a treat. That was one of our favorite days on set.”
