As Netflix plans to bring the hit video game as an anime, it feels like the Tomb Raider universe is about to get even huge. With that said, a recent report claimed the possibility of Hayley Atwell to voice Lara Croft in the series.
The report showed up from Netflix’s end as the website confirmed the actress to voice Lara. No more information has been said about the animated series in particular, however, Tomb Raider is considered a big franchise with too much lore. As per Netflix, this animated series will be set post the events of Tomb Raider’s reboot trilogy. The plot of the series will put Lara on a new event and fans will be happy to know that Atwell will be also joining along.
This is what Netflix revealed in its Tweet:
“Hayley Atwell is Lara Croft! Netflix’s upcoming TOMB RAIDER anime series from Powerhouse Animation picks up after the event of Square Enix’s video game reboot trilogy, and will follow Atwell’s Lara Croft in her latest, greatest adventure.”
Atwell is best known for her work in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. She played Peggy Carter in Captain America: The First Avenger and continued to contribute in Avengers: Endgame. Atwell played Agent Carter before playing in projects like Conviction and Christopher Robin. With that said, fans will also get to see her soon in Mission: Impossible 7 along with Tom Cruise.
Atwell’s on-screen image led her to get these exciting roles and Lara Croft is just the right cherry over that alley. Ever since she made her debut, the actress has undergone some serious iteration but managed to stay consistent throughout. Tomb Raider introduced Lara first in 1996 and the game was a massive hit. Thereafter, around 20+ games have been released under the same franchise with Shadow of the Tomb Raider (2018) being the most recent one.
