HBO Max Green Lantern Show Reportedly Casts This Game Of Thrones Actor As Sinestro

It has been long since we heard of the upcoming Green lantern series being made under the HBO Max banner. The project had just come out of the pipeline and into pre-production. Last we heard, it was making casting calls and trying to rope in actors for the various roles needed for the series. Turns out a key character has already got an actor to portray it according to the rumor mill. Sinestro is coming and he will be played by a very well-known actor who was a key supporting character for the HBO original series – Game of Thrones.

Thaal Sinestro once used to be a very famous green Lantern. His exploits were the stuff of legends. He soon turned rogue, realizing there was a power greater than the green energy of willpower. Sinestro got his hands on the Yellow power Ring that harnessed the power of fear. Sinestro became the first Yellow Lantern, starting the Sinestro Corps, the prime enemies of the Green Lantern Corps. Only a few actors have the aura and the X-Factor to play this iconic DC supervillain. The last live action appearance of Sinestro was in the Green Lantern movie, where Mark Strong essayed the role with panache. But who will be playing the villain in the HBO Max Green Lantern show?

Say Hello To Tobias Menzies – Edmure Tully of Game of Thrones

The Illuminerdi reports that Tobias Menzies will be playing Thaal Sinestro in the highly anticipated series for HBO Max. The rumors tell that the show will have a premise set before Sinestro goes rogue and becomes a Yellow Lantern. It was back in January 2020 that we came to know about DC’s plan to include Sinestro in the Green Lantern Corps series coming to HBO Max. While no one has actually confirmed the rumor and made it official, production for the show is already underway. So it is just a matter of time before we hear the good news of Tobias Menzies portraying Sinestro in the series.

If Menzies joins the series, he will working alongside Finn Wittrock (Ratched & The Big Short) and Jeremy Irvine (War Horse). The latter two will be portraying Guy Gardner and Alan Scott respectively in the show. The show will feature various other Green Lanterns like new age Lanterns – Simon Baz and Jessica Cruz. Another good addition to the series is half-alien Green Lantern – Bree Jarta. From the character descriptions for the Green lantern characters, we are sure the show is going to be dead on comics accurate, sticking close to the source material.

Tobias Menzies’ Other Works

Tobias Menzies is no small fry either. He has a long list of successful projects under his belt he has been involved with. He has worked in Outlander, The Crown, Doctor Who, Rome, and Star Wars Rebels. He is probably best known for portraying Lord Edmure Tully in Game of Thrones.
