A new image of the Joker, played by Jared Leto in the evasive Ayer cut is shared by Suicide Squad writer/director David Ayer.

David Ayer posted a photo on Twitter of Jared Leto, shirtless, in full Joker attire having a baseball bat across his shoulder, with a tweet that says, “Jared killed it But no one knows”.

Suicide Squad came to the cinemas in the year 2016 and was heavily criticized by critics. Not after much time, it become known that the version which was released by Warner Bros, was the consequence of the intrusion of the studio, which led many fans to ask for #ReleaseTheAyerCut. While Zack Snyder’s Justice League achieved success, however, it is not the same for Suicide Squad as of yet.

As far as Joker is concerned, it’s known for a long time that most of Leto’s scenes were wiped out, having Ayer saying that his “heart breaks for Jared”, in May 2020. The scenes that were cut would have shown Joker leading a dangerous attack on Arkham Asylum, as well as a square-off between The Joker and Task Force X.

While further details about Suicide Squad have been slowly taken forward by Ayer over the past few years, the strongest statement that he made came in July. “I put my life into Suicide Squad,” he wrote. “I made something amazing – My cut is [an] intricate and emotional journey with some ‘bad people’ who are shit on and discarded (a theme that resonates in my soul). The studio cut is not my movie. Read that again… [My] cut is not the 10 week director’s cut. It’s a fully mature edit by Lee Smith standing on the [incredible] work by John Gilroy. It’s all Steven Price’s brilliant score, with not a single radio song in the whole thing. It has traditional character arcs, amazing performances, a solid 3rd act resolution. A handful of people have seen it. If someone says they have seen it, they haven’t… I will no longer speak publicly on this matter.”

The statement came out just a month prior to the release of The Suicide Squad, a delicate reboot of Ayer’s film which was directed and written by James Gunn. There was very less take from the previous film, other than for the involvement of characters like Captain Boomerang, Amanda Waller, Harley Quinn, and Rick Flag.
