It only takes a piece of news to spread throughout, thanks to extensive social media around us. In case with The Punisher which released recently, it seems they found out the news of The Punisher’s cancellation through social media.

In an interview with Comicbook.com, The Punisher star Royce Johnson revealed that he found out about the show’s cancellation via social media. Johnson who had a significant role in the recent season of The Punisher admitted this that even he found out about the shocking news the same time the rest of us did.

“I found out this morning, brother, the same way we found out about the other shows,” Johnson reflects. “I tell people that sometimes the actors are the last ones to know, and that’s what it is, we are. We find out through social media as well, you know? Or we check our emails, and we get a letter.”

Johnson pointed out that the fact that it’s only show business and not that the show can go on for an infinite time.

The Punisher isn’t the first Netflix show Johnson has done to be cancelled. He played Detective Brett Mahoney in the MCU. He appeared for 17 episodes for Daredevil. Johnson reminded us that Daredevil had been cancelled before the holiday season got over. Johnson made a small cameo in Jessica Jones too.

The news of The Punisher’s cancellation came out when Jon Bernthal took to Instagram to post a goodbye to his iconic character.

“Marvel’s The Punisher will not return for a third season on Netflix,” the streaming giant said in a statement. “Showrunner Steve Lightfoot, the terrific crew, and exceptional cast including star Jon Bernthal, delivered an acclaimed and compelling series for fans, and we are proud to showcase their work on Netflix for years to come.”
