“He’s a very persuasive person”: Kelly Ripa Broke Her One Rule to Marry Mark Consuelos, Didn’t Believe She Was Actually in Love With Him

Kelly Ripa is definitely not embracing close relationships with cars, despite the fact that she and Mark Consuelos met via car. The Live with Kelly and Ryan host, 52, explained how her relationship with Consuelos, 51, worked despite everything she believes in during a discussion on the Not Thin Yet Not Fat webcast. The two met while working on All My Children as the on-screen couple Haley and Mateo. They later got married in Las Vegas a year later, and they have three children together: Lola, Michael Joseph, and Joaquin Antonio.
The host isn’t afraid to get real when it comes to opening up about the ups and downs of marriage. The couple has been married for such a long time and loves to share sweet glimpses of her relationship.
Kelly Ripa never preferred dating an actor
During the Not Thin Yet Not Fat webcast episode, the Live! With Kelly and Ryan host, Kelly Ripa brought up the topic of what she used to believe about dating culture before falling for Mark Consuelos. She admitted that she wasn’t entirely confident about getting married to an actor. Ripa also disclosed that she had thought her practicality would prevent her from even dating or marrying an actor.
“That was like on my ‘no’ list. Like, I will never marry an actor because there is no stability there. Right?”
Unexpectedly, she also married an actor who also her co-star. She cited this as rule number two of her dating guidelines – not to date an actor. “Do not involve yourself with your costar because that never works.” Because of the nature of her and Consuelos’ profession, Ripa was hesitant to pursue chemistry with her costar.
“What if I’m falling in love with his character? What if it’s his character I’m in love with?”
However, as it turns out, she went against the advice of that other voice that said, “This will never work,” she added. “You shouldn’t do this. This will be ultimately bad for you. And I decided to take this chance.”
How did Consuelos impress Kelly Ripa to change her rules?
She continued by sharing even more details about her marriage, recalling how her husband, Mark Consuelos, was persistent and extremely convincing.
“He was super convincing. He’s a very persuasive person. And here’s the other thing. This cannot be understated. He’s a kind human being.”

Consuelos and Ripa first connected at Consuelos’ All My Children audition. They started dating one year later, in 1996, and have been married for 26 years. The couple has three wonderfully raised kids together.
