Marvel Studios Thor: Love and Thunder have finally entered the theatres starring Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Christian Bale, and Tessa Thompson leading the fourth sequel in the Thor movies. Despite getting bad reviews from the critics, Thor 4 director Taika Waititi has been actively praising the movie presenting a version of Thor that fans didn’t even expect. This will be the first movie for Natalie Portman whose character had an upgrade from being the scientist to a new wielder of Mjolnir. She will be back in the movie after Thor: The Dark World becomes the Mighty Thor.
Though the actors are returning to the MCU for the fourth sequel, they have worked extremely hard to get there from having transformations that could make them fit for the roles to giving their best performances onscreen. However, both the actors have different pay for playing the Mighty Thor in the MCU.
Chris Hemsworth’s Salary in Marvel Cinematic Universe
The actor has played Thor since the beginning of 2011’s Thor has continued to reprise his role in other MCU films, including Thor: The Dark World, Thor: Ragnarok, Avengers: Infinity War, and Avengers: Endgame. His career started with a $150,000 payment while he was an unknown actor in the MCU however according to the reports from Variety, he has earned a $20 million payday for his role in Thor: Love and Thunder.
In Thor 4, Chris Hemsworth will initially be looking for inner peace away from the usual action he used to do in previous Thor movies however he will be back into action to fight Christian Bale’s Gorr The God Butcher, who is set to exterminate the gods.
Natalie Portman Salary For Playing The Mighty Thor
This is the actress’s third film as Jane Foster while the first playing Mighty Thor in the MCU. Even though she is the main female lead in the Thor franchise, she is one of the lowest-paid stars in MCU. Her payment for playing Mighty Thor in Marvel Studios is less than a million which is not an estimated 1% of the film’s total budget.
However, this is not the first time Elizabeth Olsen who was one of the leads in 2022’s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness was paid only $2 million, even though she was the antagonist whose character was appreciated by everyone.
Even though she will be playing Mighty Thor alongside Hemsworth’s Thor, she is getting much less pay than the main actor which looks like female actresses are less paid in the industry even though they are given the same amount of hardships and energy as the male actors.
