It wouldn’t be the first time Pursuit of Happiness musician Kid Cudi has teased retirement without following through. Over the past few years, he has had to manifold his portfolio with acting, writing, and directing roles. In a new interview with First We Feast’s Hot One series, the artist discussed his future career plans, which might not include music forever.

Upon discussing aging in the rap scene with the show host, he mentioned icons like Snoop Dogg, Jay-Z, Eminem, and others in the genre as examples; with their longevity, they inspired him. Cudi added,

“But I don’t feel like I have what they have. So I just don’t know if I wanna make music, drop albums for too much longer, you know?” “I’m kind of nearing the end of all things Kid Cudi, I think.”

Rapper Cudi recently released his eighth album, Entergalactic, a companion project to his animated Netflix special of the same name.

In recent years, Cudi has stepped up his film career with roles in Don’t Look Up and X. Currently, he’s associated with five more films i.e. Silent Night, Teddy, September 17th, and Real Life, all of which are in varying stages of production.

In continuation of the Hot One’s interview, the artist said, “I’m really curious to see what else I can do. I was thinking about this; this is like a wacky idea I had years ago.”

Furthermore, he added, “It would be cool to one day be a kindergarten teacher. Just do that for a couple of years.”

“When I’m like 50, for like 10 years was a kindergarten teacher, but infect the youth with that freshness. Then those kids will sprinkle the freshness to the world.”

Before Kid Cudi enters the classroom for his little future fans, current fans can listen to songs such as Do What I Want, Willing to Trust, and Can’t Believe It with Ty Dolla $ign on his album Entergalactic.
