Florence Pugh was fat-shamed early on in her career

The English actress, Florence Pugh, made her debut in the acting industry with The Falling in 2014. Right after her role in the movie, she got another role in a TV series and felt really lucky to be part of it. Talking to The Telegraph in an interview, she said, “I felt very lucky and grateful, and couldn’t believe that I had got this top-of-the-game job.” But her thoughts changed shortly thereafter when she met the directors.

The Lady Macbeth actress talked about how her superiors wanted her to go through a complete makeover to fit into her role in the series. She said,

All the things that they were trying to change about me – whether it was my weight, my look, the shape of my face, the shape of my eyebrows.

Pugh further talked about how she did not want to sign up for this type of role. She said, “this was what the top of the game looked like, and I felt I’d made a massive mistake.

Lady Macbeth was the biggest stepping stone in the English actress’ career

After the pilot of the show never aired, Florence Pugh landed a role in the Lady Macbeth movie. The movie was the biggest turning point of her career, as she rose to fame with her role. Florence Pugh said that the Lady Macbeth movie made her “fall back in love with cinema.” In another interview, the Don’t Worry Darling actress talked about the central theme of the movies she plays. She said,

I guess all of my movies have that element of women being forced into a corner, forced into an opinion, forced into a way of life.” She further added, “I love playing a distressed woman.
