The brothers’ relationship has reportedly been strained since Prince Harry’s Marriage to Meghan Markle. Now details about why Prince William refused to be his brother’s best man at his wedding have emerged.

Prince Harry’s Memoir Spare and its Revelations

According to Spare Prince Harry’s memoir, he had Requested and begged his elder brother to be with him the night before his wedding.

 

Prince Harry writes,

“He held fast. Can’t do it. I pushed. Why are you being like this, Willy? I was with you the whole night before you married Kate. Why are you doing this? I asked myself what was really going on. Was he feeling bad about not being my best man? Was he upset that I’d asked my old mate Charlie?”

Prince William refused to do so, leaving Harry to think about all the reasons behind Prince William’s refusal.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s Meeting

In their book Finding Freedom, authors Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand clearly stated the details about the first meeting between Meghan Markle and Prince William, his initial thoughts about Meghan Markle and the issues that ensued when Meghan Markle and Prince Harry were working with Prince William and sharing his and Kate Middleton’s staff.

Meghan Markle met Prince William in early November 2016, accompanied by Prince Harry. She had prepared herself for grilling, but Prince William was very friendly, telling Markle that he was looking forward to meeting the girl who had put a silly grin on his brother’s face. Meghan Markle and Prince William got along very well, according to Authors Scobie and Durand.

However, behind the doors, the story was completely different. Prince William mentioned that he is concerned that Prince Harry’s relationship with Markle was moving too fast.

This led to Prince William eventually confronting Prince Harry and voicing his concerns;

 He said, “take as much time as you need to get to know this girl.”

Much to Prince William’s dismay Prince Harry was reportedly unhappy about his brother’s interference in his relationship.

While publicly showing his support for Prince Harry’s relationship and wanting to help protect Meghan Markle from press attacks after he met her, Prince William was concerned at how the relationship was moving.
