“I Would Fight A New Daredevil Actor,” Jokes Daredevil Star Charlie Cox

Daredevil star Charlie Cox has jokingly revealed that he would definitely fight a new actor cast as Daredevil for the MCU if he was recast. Cox debuted as the Daredevil in 2015’s Netflix show by Drew Goddard, with some very loose connections to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Daredevil would also star Elden Henson, Deborah Ann Will, Vincent D’Onofrio, Roasario Dawson, Ayelet Zurer, Vondie Curtis-Hall, Elodie Young, Jon Bernthal, and Wilson Bethel.

Daredevil marked the first small-screen Marvel project on Netflix, with Krysten Ritter’s Jessica Jones following later in the same year, later spawning Mike Colter’s Luke Cage. Daredevil later launched its own spin-off series with The Punisher with Jon Bernthal in the leading role after making his debut in the second season of Daredevil. The widely criticized Iron Fist arrived in 2017, rounding out the crossover which we later knew as The Defenders. While the general reception for all the shows was positive, they would ultimately find themselves canceled by Netflix in 2018-19 as Marvel Television folded into a much larger Marvel Studios and Netflix’s deal with the characters expired.

Catching up with Sirius XM’s The Pop Culture Spotlight, Cox discussed the possibility of his return as Daredevil for the MCU. When the actor was asked about any advice he would like to give an actor who could be cast in the role, Cox had a rather funny reply to it.

“I would go down into my basement, I would find my Daredevil mask, and I would hunt them down. I would make them fight me for it.”

After this humourous reply, Cox advised the future star to find his own version of the hero, just like he found his own, while still revealing that he would be disheartened if he doesn’t return to play the role. Cox isn’t the only one disappointed about Daredevil returning to the MCU, as rumours continue to rage about him appearing in Spider-Man: No Way Home. Just like Andrew Garfield, Cox has squashed all these rumours so far.

Charlie Cox isn’t the only actor from the Netflix MCU universe eager to return. Ritter also expressed her desire to return as Jessica Jones, saying that “she would absolutely die” to play the role again. This being said, many MCU fans are also anticipating the return of Vincent D’Onofrio in Disney+’s Hawkeye.

How much of this holds true, only time will tell. Until then, stay tuned for more updates.
