Sandra Bullock Says She Regrets Making Speed 2: “I'm Still Embarrassed”
Sandra Bullock Says She Regrets Making Speed 2

Every actor has a movie they wished they were not part of, Sandra Bullock, in an interview with TooFab, revealed her choice. She felt embarrassed for starring in Speed 2.

The American Sweetheart said, “I have one, no one came around to, and I’m still embarrassed I was in. It’s called ‘Speed 2.”

The movie was a sequel to the 1994 original Speed, which starred Keanu Reeves. The first movie was a great success with an interesting storyline. It revolved around Reeves playing the character of Jack Traven, an L.A. police officer. He was tasked to disarm a bomb that was hidden on a bus full of passengers. Bullock played Annie, one of the passengers on the bus.

While talking about the film’s plotline, the actress said, “I’ve been very vocal about it. Makes no sense. Slow boat. Slowly going towards an island. That’s one I wished I hadn’t done, and no fans came around, that I know of.”

The original movie was about a hijacked bus. The sequel revolved around a hijacked cruise ship. When the script for the film came, Reeves bailed out and decided not to return. The 57-year-old was generous enough to reprise her role. She regreeted it when hardly any fans showed up to watch the film.

She revealed, “Very quiet. Like 5 people…. Four 12-year-olds who were watching the slow boat going towards the tiny island.”

Although Speed 2 was not a success, Gravity star still has an impressive movie catalog.

Speed 2: Cruise Control

The film, directed by  Jan de Bont, served as a sequel to the original 1994 Speed. It came out in 1997, starring Bullock alongside Jason Patric. The action film centered around Annie enjoying a romantic holiday on a cruise with her policeman boyfriend Alex. Later they find themselves at the mercy of a madman, Giger. Annie and her boyfriend try to stop a Caribbean cruise ship from crashing into an oil tanker.

During an interview, Reeves, who was part of Speed, revealed his reason for not returning for the sequel.

He said, “I really wanted to work with Sandra Bullock, I loved playing Jack Traven, and I loved Speed, but an ocean liner? I had nothing against the artists involved, but at that time I had the feeling it just wasn’t right.”

Speed 2 came out on June 13, 1997. The fans anticipated a lot from it. Despite the success of the first film, however, many critics and audiences found Speed 2 boring in comparison.

Speed 2 is available to stream on Apple TV.
