Best known for his portrayal of Rick O’Connell in The Mummy franchise, and George in George of the Jungle, Brendan Fraser has just joined the cast of Doom Patrol as Robotman. Doom Patrol will be DC’s latest offering in their DC Universe’s live action series. Fraser is set to take on the role of Cliff Steele in flashback scenes and will do the regular voice-over of Robotman.

In the comics, Cliff Steele becomes Robotman after almost losing his life in a race car accident. His brain is transplanted into a robot thus making him Robotman. While Fraser handles Cliff Steele and does the voice acting, Riley Shanahan will bring alive Robotman on-stage.

Brendan Fraser joins the cast of Robotman with Diane Guerrero, April Bowlby and Jovian Wade.

The Orange Is The New Black star Diane Guerrero will be playing Crazy Jane, while April Bowlby will play Elasti-Girl and Jovian Wade will be seen as Cyborg. The characters of Negative Man and Dr Niles Caulder have not so far been announced.

Although it is true that Doom Patrol is not the best-known superhero team DC has, it is very well suited for the streaming platform. With shows like Arrow, Supergirl and Legends Of Tomorrow doing very well, DC seems to be wanting to showcase their other heroes.

Doom Patrol is the classic story of a bunch of misfits banding together to protect the world using their own unique powers. It can be compared to the Marvel’s X-Men, with both teams being led by great men in wheelchairs, but fans say Doom Patrol was the original concept. The show is expected to provide viewers with an alternative group of heroes who are quite unlike the usual upstanding heroes we see normally.

It will be streamed alongside shows like Titans, Young Justice, Swamp Thing and more. It is set to premiere in 2019. Want to check out the Internet’s reaction to Fraser’s casting as Robotman? Read on for more!

Doom Patrol will be available on the DC Universe streaming service.
