Although global warming concerns continue to mount, short flights on luxury aircraft seem to be a common practice among the rich and famous. In recent years, celebrities like Kylie Jenner and Taylor Swift have used them for short trips, and now Meghan Markel has been chastised for flying in a private jet after lecturing the world on environmental conservation.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have received criticism for frequently traveling on private jets. The couple’s choice of repeatedly traveling in this way has caught them under fire on Twitter several times, with pundits labeling the duo hypocritical for taking the private jet after spending years promoting environmental efforts. People referred to them as “a couple of climate change swindlers” by throwing shade at their extravagant lifestyle choices as Markle and Harry continue to ignore environmental concerns.

According to the latest revelations, author and biographer Valentine Low describes how working for the Sussexes, Meghan Markle, and Prince Harry, was a nightmare for the royal courtiers in his book. On January 24, his book, Courtiers: Intrigue, Ambition, and the Power Players Behind the House of Windsor, was launched.

Low looks into how close aides to the British royal family have aided the monarchy’s survival throughout the years. It features interviews with insiders who talk about their experiences working behind the palace walls. While the book provides insight into several royals, according to Fox News, the chapters on the Sussexes have received the most attention.

Low further notes, “They were quite stubborn. They were challenging. They were unruly and rebellious.” He went on,

“Consider Meghan and Harry’s actions, such as their use of private jets. During the summer of 2019, they took multiple flights in a short period of time. Despite all of the advice they were given.”

But they refused to listen to the truth. And, of course, when the media learned about it, Harry was heavily criticized. They were simply difficult to deal with.”

Meanwhile, Meghan Markle and her husband, Prince Harry, have been outspoken environmentalists. In November 2021, the pair pledged through their own organization to attain net-zero emissions by 2030. In the past, the royal family was criticized for attending the United Nations Climate Change Conference in Glasgow. According to Graham Smith, a representative for the anti-monarchy group Republic, the royals should not be praised for their environmental efforts while using helicopters and private jets to attend events.
